Also tried this, but only managed to pull about 500MB in total for the 24 hours.

Cheaper than iBurst :p - I wouldn't complain going to use this service next weekend and see if I am able to achieve 500meg but i doubt i will.

Strange.......care to share with us the exact time and date which "your" bundle was activated?
I haven't tried this R50 bundle again in over 2 months(since Jan 2011), and as far as I know, all bugs were "fixed" and any given user would only get about 100-200mb for the duration of the 24 hrs.

23:00 to ~23:00 the next day.

Well, thought I would chime in.

Needed to try and get lucky to download around 20GB off Steam.
Loaded it up in the very early AM (4:30-ish) and fired her up.

Maintained around 4Mbps for around 1.7GB.
Dropped to around 1Mbps so I went to sleep.
Woke up and it was hovering around 2Mbps.
Did stuff during day and later the evening was doing around 3Mbps.

I have about 90 minutes left on the thing, Steam isn't just quite done yet.

But... 18.5GB = win imo.

And no, I didn't do anything special or different, or magical, or anything of the sorts.
Loaded some airtime from InternetBanking.
Loaded bundle.
Activated Bundle.
Put SIM into modem and connect to PC.
Open connection.
Open Steam.
Don't touch it again...

EDIT: Just to clarify - Sitting at around 18GB downloaded, throttle still not active, currently going around 2.5Mbps over 10s average speed-checks.

That's impressive.

I have a feeling you are in for a fight with MTN.

I have a feeling you are in for a fight with MTN.

They can fight me all they want.
I loaded a bundle, queued my downloads, and walked away.
Came back when I woke up, noticed it was still going, and walked away yet again.

I was only actively monitoring the thing in the last 90 minutes.

Nowhere near my fault that their systems don't work right...

That is fantastic value for money I wish I was able to download 20gig like you.
Share your secret with me are you sleeping with someone at MTN.

It's not your fault if the throttle system doesn't come alive at all - and for MTN to have loopholes like that it's their fault and not yours to blame you paying for a service and you receiving value for money.

I wish there was some sort of technique or glitch or something that can be somewhat consistently "activated". That simply isn't it though.
Like I said. Just loaded, and let it run without any interference at all.

All bugs are fixed, got my 150 megs and then it slowed down to 6-8 KB/s now...

I should have kept the 50 bucks and used it as OOB, cause then I would have gotten 250 Megs, and at full speed, and not limited to 24 hours...

Mtn is pathetic

Yesterday i tried to load a 1day uncapped internet bundle..could not load it as kept telling me service is unavailable please try again in 15 minutes..didnt work for over 4 hours so i loaded a 10mb data bundle to see if that would work..it did, but instead of using up my data it used the money on the phone instead when i tried to surf and check emails. Phoned help desk they just escalated the complaint to condition 2 or whatever but no response from anyone yet.

At about 8 last night i finally get the uncapped bundle working, start downloading a movie and go to sleep..only to wake up and find all the money on my phone gone..my 10mb gone and the uncapped data still running.

Now i suddenly get a sms saying i have reached 150mb data usage and it will kick me down to 120kbs. Im surfing now but the speed is only 3kbs..my speed so very slow :(

Whats going on mtn im thinking of just canceling my contract and going to vodacom this is very bad i cant lose money and still have to deal with this speed ..yes i have phoned "help desk" they cant do anything till tomorrow..PATHETIC

MTN has really lost the plot! I hear nothing but complains from MTN subscribers. They don't seem to be that keen on retaining customers. Don't bother even reporting them to HelloPeter - they have a standard response and say they will contact you, but never do.
