Agree! Just a pity that MTN does not see their potential! Vodacom takes customer service very serious - see Hellopeter and also Twitter. I've had great response from either. But their network still sucks - I mostly get GPRS on my BB Torch. But on MTN (Desire HD), I get 3G all the time. But low and behold if I need help!

MTN are supposed to be slowing you down to 128kbps at 150MB or data used.

Honestly, for R50 I can't see the use at these speeds. Plus there's alway the possibility MTN "get's confused" and charges you for all data used. A big PASS for me.

Tried it recently and only managed to pull about 300MB in the 24-hour period.

Sounds like results vary.

^Truth +1.

I've used the little bundle a total of 4 or 5 times.

Twice I've gotten fantastic results (late throttle/no throttle)
Once I got throttled a LITTLE late (after about 400MB)
The other one or two was normal.

the glitches are gone for good. if you lucky ou get max 2GB per bundle if the throttle kicks in late.

That's the only way they can sustain the offer, otherwise you get +- 500 000 subscribers pulling between 15GB and 25GB for R50 at a time.

Yesterday i tried to load a 1day uncapped internet bundle..could not load it as kept telling me service is unavailable please try again in 15 minutes..didnt work for over 4 hours so i loaded a 10mb data bundle to see if that would work..it did, but instead of using up my data it used the money on the phone instead when i tried to surf and check emails. Phoned help desk they just escalated the complaint to condition 2 or whatever but no response from anyone yet.

At about 8 last night i finally get the uncapped bundle working, start downloading a movie and go to sleep..only to wake up and find all the money on my phone gone..my 10mb gone and the uncapped data still running.

Now i suddenly get a sms saying i have reached 150mb data usage and it will kick me down to 120kbs. Im surfing now but the speed is only 3kbs..my speed so very slow :(

Whats going on mtn im thinking of just canceling my contract and going to vodacom this is very bad i cant lose money and still have to deal with this speed ..yes i have phoned "help desk" they cant do anything till tomorrow..PATHETIC

1-3kbps is pretty standard when you hit 150mb :)

Well, I've used this about 4 times a while back, I swear there's something up with my sim card, because after activation, I get full speed till the last minute.

3G Internet being throttled

I bought one those R50 Mtn unlimited 24 hour bundles on Saturday, and deactivated it soon after the 150mb 'fair use'. The problem now is that I'm still only getting an average speed of 7kb/s. I called the call center and they cannot seem to find anything wrong. Mtn's service is definitely not what it used to be.

why did you deactivate it after your 150mb?

Because 7kb/s is useless for downloading, can't even browse properly on my phone.

Btw its Wednesday (3 days later) and after numerous calls to 1555, 173 and 808 this issue have not been resolved. Still stuck with crappy 7kb/s internet speeds. Time to take drastic measures against Mtn...
