Very true what you say

I'm just a poor whitey that cannot afford those massive prices of owning a car and the petrol price, etc.
That's why I gamble my life each day in the wind, rain, sometimes hail travelling 100km round trip to work and back each day :)
 
And here we go again

I no longer have a garden, what I do have is a mud pit.

We had intermittent showers throughout the day with some strong wind gusts, but the main front arrived around 8pm with more heavy rain.

Edit: Really bucketing down at 9:45pm. Flash of lightning, and brief rumble of thunder. Should ease up by midnight.

Started here also around that time. Some gusts pushing through.
 
Heavy rain. I mean heavy my broer, heavy.
I don't use that word lightly.

The roads, sewers, gutters were already a mess last night driving back home, I'm certain most parts of CT will now be with the amount of rain having fallen over the last 36 hours, and due to continue well into early morning hours.

/ Mother nature compensating for the very dry winter thus far
 
Another 40mm+ in our gauge in Kenilworth since this morning. I lost track, but we had at least 100mm in the preceding 48 hours.

The rain eased up slightly at 10:50pm, enough for me to go outside, but was soon followed by a severe gust of wind. I'm glad it's storming late at night, and tomorrow should be a bit nicer.
 
Holy carp, that's a ton of water coming down now.
 
I just checked the numbers for the Berg River Dam, and at midnight it was 104.5% full, with an outflow of 100m^3/sec. The volume going down that spillway must be impressive!

Further north the Clanwilliam Dam shows good inflows, up to 33% from 27% yesterday, and 23% a week ago.

Sadly, areas further afield received very little rain from this event.

No such thing as mud on the cape flats.

I see the AAO index is finally approaching normal values for this time of the year.
The AAO index has been consistently positive for the whole month of June, which means most weather systems have been moving past south of the WC.
It also means we have experienced some really strange summer like weather here in GP.
