Rain and storm for Cpt

Ag f.... They have been taking 5 years now to upgrade that road to Montague - I wonder how much this will set them back.
Actually, the road engineers anticipated this. The road bed, where it is close to the river, is 15m higher than previous roads

Only a low road over the Keisies river got washed away, not on a main route. Some good videos on Twitter. Lots of rain last night and another big load expected at about 04h00 tomorrow. The camp site is in a spot of bother though

Some decent rain in my Jojo tanks tonight at least, was starting to run low

Temporary gap in the rain in Kenilworth, but already an impressive 24mm in the gauge at 9:45pm. Streets were briefly flooded just now. The satellite images show plenty more rain to come in the next few hours.

Seems to be mostly dry at sunrise, but very heavy showers during the night. Medium size waterfalls on the mountain, after a relatively dry week. Another 32mm in our gauge this morning, a total of 56mm in roughly 12 hours!

Edit: The SAEON Dwarsberg mountain catchment site recorded 55mm up to midnight, and an equal amount this morning. The peak rainfall rate between 6am and 7am this morning was 13mm!

P.S. We don't really need more water in the CT dams, but it will be interesting so see if the rain extended further inland.

Same, tin roof is screaming
I thought you were out of your shack already by now.

Back to topic: Nice rain here in Somerset West through the night, still raining now, softly though.
Had a really nice lightning show from my bedroom window at 05h15 facing towards Cape Town, but no thunder, so it must have been pretty far out at sea.

48mm rain from 15h00 yesterday to 04h00 this morning
Bit of local flooding - Wynberg Fire Station and Rosmead Avenue
A few trees down, especially the Royal Cape Golf Club
