Was a downpour at Redcross but nothing up the road at my house. Very selective rain this.

Cape Town does not have a monopoly on upper troughs. The rainfall distribution is very different from winter cold-fronts. That is one reason why there are two different storm threads.

Was proper weird, it was like 30 degrees full summer vibe baking in the car, hour later I hear thunderstorm then rain (CT south).

Aah, but looking at CT's weather is a good indication of what may lie ahead for the Eastern Cape.
