It's a bit of a weird system, and I got unexpectedly wet too. Most of the rain came from weak upper instability, not a normal cold-front.

N.B. Rain and cold is predicted for Mon 1st (election day).

I was out geared up in my black trench coat (without hidden shotgun) and sou'wester. Had quite a few downpours in the hour that I was there, many people soaked right through and were shivering. Not to mention those who tired their luck with umbrellas

Update:

Rain stopped abruptly at midday here in S Subs. Dark clouds cleared, some sunshine even poking through.
No sign of any further rain.
100% probability of downpours were forecast to continue until late afternoon , although that seems highly unlikely, been 2 hours already ...not a drop.

I was thinking of you this morning in my queue at 6:50 at Gordons Bay as I was the only person there in full rainsuit and gumboots. I could see people were sniggering at me. There was no rain in the 80 minutes I was there but as soon as I got on my bike to come home it started raining and I laughed at the 150 plus people in the queue there, they would have all gotten proper drenched. It was a good downpour this morning in the Helderberg

Am now in South Peninsula environs, heavens opened again about 15 minutes ago, bucketed down briefly and now some gentle soaking rain continues...

I had a few interesting looks but it was because, regrettably, I did not wear rainpants and my wife have told me on numerous occasions this particular trench coat makes me look like a deranged transvestite with my legs showing. She's not wrong. I say regrettably because the rain came in from the side and it got slightly damp in my gumboots and the lower part of my shorts were also damp. Now I have been about in just the coat and nothing else except boots and the sou'wester and you get the occasional stare. They must know there is nothing under it.

There was one other elderly lady from Cloetesville in a full green PVC oilskin suit and boots and a couple of people in your typical style Johnson jackets. As for the rest, they got proper soaked. Umbrellas, as per the norm in the Cape, was useless.

I wish I had gone proper dressed at around 10am when we had a lot of rain - might have gone through sooner.

If you ever need to renew car license or other interactions with state services I highly recommend waiting for a rainy day. First time I did the trench only trick was earlier this year when I had to renew my car licenses. Rocked up to the traffic dept just before they opened and I was home by 8:30.
