But first, let me take a speed test

ISP: rain
Ping: 70ms
Download: 24.83Mbps
Upload: 0.48Mbps
Test your speed: http://speedtest.co.za

And this the normal speedtest app , seems like there is a problem with the tower as iburst is being used and not rain...

Speed tests in general are a load of bullshit . I can download stuff from overseas at 5MBs where speed test only shows in the region of 1Mbps. The most accurate speed test is Netflix

*edit 5MB is over 50 Mbps

Well it seems there is definitely a problem with Rain Lte at the moment. After all the different speedtests , downloading a file still downloads at 1mbps , which is pathetic knowing that i have downloaded previously at a hundred times faster.

There must be a problem somewhere yes, usual speeds throughout the day is 40Mbps+, getting around 4Mbps currently.... Probably won't get any help from useless Afrihost or Rain at the moment.

Anyways, switching to my Vodacom LTE now... Getting 50Mbps, weird since Both Rain and Vodacom runs from the same tower in my area.

Okay WTF!?

So I just took a chance and changed my APN on my B618 to "rain" as stated on their website, lost connection for a short while and then it reconnected, got different IP address that usual and speeds are back to normal again!

Just FYI, my previous APN was the standard "internet" APN.

Fscking weird....

So i did a speedtest on the browser speedtest and now its back to normal after 6pm ??? Wtf

Dude WTF is that IP address? I get one in the 197.184.x.x range. Think there might be something wrong with your account, I get that type of IP address when using Vodacom LTE.

Have you tried switching to the rain APN? Or are you using it already? I switched to it earlier and connection is much better thereafter. Even my youtube isn't being limited to 6Mbps anymore after 6PM, flying at full speed now.

Tried that myself...made no diff...jitter over 200ms, and pings often in 1000-2000ms region.
Doesn't matter what time of day or night....even 4am in morning.
As i said previously, this is ever since the RAIN national outage a few days ago...

Those fuggers did something...and it's never been the same.

Currently....as of 20:53
Ping: 42ms
Download: 0.73Mbps
Upload: 0.04Mbps

Must be an issue with your tower. Get them to investigate.

I will but not holding my breath...aqlmost certain it's a RAIN issue and doubt they'll be forthcoming with the real truth...most likely they'll just hide behind their ISP's as they are want to do, i.e AH and let them take the flack.
