Rain LTE via Afrihost - Possible network tampering

Hey All,

Switched to Rain LTE via Afrihost two months or so ago, and I have to say it is terrible. Their support of the service is terrible, the speed is not at all what was advertised, and the stability(even with a ethernet connection) is horrible. Packets are constantly being dropped. At this stage it was better on the 10Mbps ADSL line :-/

I have been doing some tests using OONI probe(https://ooni.torproject.org/) for a while, and last night I got a disturbing result when testing HTTP header field manipulation. In three tests, all three returned a result that suggests there is network tampering. https://twitter.com/schalkneethling/status/966962266544406529

What you would expect from communists South Africa?

Don't panic. It could be a transparent proxy server in your path. Other networks also use it. Besides, you can expect from South Africa the latest spying technology which do not generate dumb responses.

Agree on the speed & service. they are non-responsive and arrogant as well.

1. Do you know if the b618 router they package is locked to their network?
2. Which are the other LTE-A service providers with a good offering (data, speed, coverage, etc)?
