Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

Having issues with Rain in Durban for the past few hours, sites take ages to resolve the DNS and general slowness to load. Tried both 1800 and 2600 mhz as well as restarting the router.
Switched to ADSL and everything works fine.
Kinda the same here, speedtests are all great just makes everything feel super slow

Speedtest.net took multiple tries before it loaded and the speedtest was fine: 25ms, 10.25 down and 8.69 up to a Cell C JHB server
Try using Google DNS 8.8.8.8.

Personally I had to give up on Rain after excellent performance for eight months at 40 Mbps. It tanked in a short few weeks down to 0.05 Mbps.

Its unusable again, was fine most of last night but it seems they're having issues again.
Also tried Google, cloudflare and ISP DNS.
ADSL working perfectly.

Yep.

International is mostly unusable. Latency test errors on speedtest.net. Local seems fine.

So, it turns out that Rain isn't cost effective for me. I don't use enough data to warrant the inconvenience of off peak only.

That said, the sign up and exit process are great. My sim was delivered in about 2 days. And cancelling is easy and takes effect at the end of the same month.

You know you don't have to cancel right. Slide the uncapped afterhours slider off and slide the spend limit to R0 and chuck the sim a draw. Will save you delivery and activation fee in the future if you ever need to use it again.

Simcard never expires and can't rack up usage if spend limit is R0 as it will always be capped.

Should have been clearer. That's what I did. I stopped the uncapped data and will leave the sim in a box until I need it again.

That's what I've done.

Thanks for this! Will need to do this at the end of the year. Just to clarify, if i need to use the Uncapped Off-peak again, I must turn it back on with spend limit R250 the month before wanting to use it?

Yes just switch everything off then when you need to use it again switch is back on. As for the uncapped part not sure if they allow you to switch it on and it is active immediately with pro rata billing or it will only be active from the 1st of the following month but I did see they made it like a switch that can be switched on and off at any time so believe the billing will be the same.

Thanks, I'll check with them tomorrow to clarify and post here.

So I switched my uncapped package off last night, I'm not really getting value out of it. I will rather use public wifi with a VPN.

This morning I get a mail that says that I activated my uncapped package :eek::rolleyes:

Same thing for me. Will log in tonight and check, hopefully the email was a mistake and Rain isn't trying to be Hotel California.
