What's regarded as a decent average speed on Rain in Durban? My 4mbps ADSL isn't flattering either.
Felt so good to cancel my rain uncapped today - rain confirmed they are aware of the issues but was told it will only be resolved with new towers being put up. It was good while it lasted! We have reached a point where Rain in the metros have started to slow down a lot because at R250 it's a steal for unlimited data so you get people torrenting, downloading, streaming the whole day and Rain has very limited 4G spectrum in fact they they have the lowest compared to MTN and Vodacom but they do have lot's they can use for 5G hence the speeds on 5G.
If you are looking at getting 4G then it's best you get a combo of say MTN Fixed LTE or Telkom Fixed LTE with a Rain R250 uncapped. This combo will in most cases be better than 4Mbps ADSL.
Yay! More capacity for us!Felt so good to cancel my rain uncapped today - rain confirmed they are aware of the issues but was told it will only be resolved with new towers being put up. It was good while it lasted!

Just got back from 3 months in the US and it activates immediately. Just disappointed at how piss poor my speeds are now after 5G launched...Yes just switch everything off then when you need to use it again switch is back on. As for the uncapped part not sure if they allow you to switch it on and it is active immediately with pro rata billing or it will only be active from the 1st of the following month but I did see they made it like a switch that can be switched on and off at any time so believe the billing will be the same.
Highly doubt you would be able to get this type of upload speed on 4G, pretty sure it's a bug in speedtest itself.Believe it or not, this is 4G.. has anyone done a speedtest on rain where upload speeds burst to an insane speed for just a split second before Rain's bandwidth management kicks in? Or would this be something else View attachment 754440
Thought the same thing. First time I saw it and only happens on rain tho. But the possibility of that speed is unlikelyHighly doubt you would be able to get this type of upload speed on 4G, pretty sure it's a bug in speedtest itself.
could be due to loadsheddingCompletely dead here in Durban, router unable to connect.
Tried the usual, changing bands, restarting router etc.

This is a bug on the speedtest app. I've had this happen many times on various networks and in different countries too.Thought the same thing. First time I saw it and only happens on rain tho. But the possibility of that speed is unlikely
