Rain network users hit by downtime

The shaping on rain is killing me. Can't use a VPN to work. Only get 4meg when connected to vpns. Try open a database at 4mg. Logged a call. Took them 10 days to reply saying I must contact my IT department.
4meg? You're lucky!
Ping: 47ms
Download: 0.1Mbps
Upload: 0.14Mbps

This is on the 19hr uncapped package

I've cancelled my rain sim. Fed up now, especially with 240p youtube. Local WISP FTW.

I am using cloudfare vpn seems to be ok.

Connection is slower today, but still usable for me, hope its for maintenance to add the additional spectrum to 2600mhz band.

If you are on the 24/7 uncapped option I would recommend you downgrade to the off-peak package. The 10mbps package will just not cut it for most IT purposes.
I am on the 5g R699 30meg package

I am on the 30meg package
I get 15ms ping
33meg download
15meg upload.
Torrents are limited to 4 Meg and VPN too

I had the 10meg rain. I found it worked well when I forced the router to use the 2600 band. It was alot more stable. I just needed more speed. And the 30 Meg package comes with a router

Try going to rain.co.za , seems like they have locked out users who have not paid their bill. Paid mine, back online now
The same happened to me. I was under the impression they debited my account only to find they never did. So they just cut off the connection without a notice:confused:

What vpn are you using? vpn normally bypasses shaping even on R479 package.
I am using our work one what we created on a bitco 1gig line. Using openvpn. And I have tried my smart dns proxy. Both are limited to 4 meg. If I use my telkom Lte I get full speed.

I subscribed to the off-peak package for working from home 2 weeks ago and received the SIM last week. Initially I got speeds between 10-13Mbps which was good enough for me. Then it deteriorated to 4Mbps. I cancelled within the first seven days because the network was so poor that it wasn't viable as a WFH connection for me

Been down since 8.07 and currently down... man oh man but their network doesn't seem particularly robust! Load shedding, rain, pandemics and they fall to pieces...

This is how rain works. The first few months for me was great - about 9 months ago. Then it went to pot. But since this 24 hour uncapped product was introduced....man, oh, man, it's @#$%ing atrocious. NO video plays at any more than 240p. You could be watching porn with your mother looking over your shoulder and I swear you could convince her you're watching cat videos. It's that bad.

Eish that's very disappointing, Rain really needs to up their game. We heard so much hype about Rain 5G and how things would be different because they had more bandwidth for 5G.

I am now slowly starting to believe the naysayers who have been telling us Vodacom is the only true customer for Rain, everything else is just a sideshow and hence lower priority for them

I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there. Rain's business plan in less than one sentence.

Same here. Thought the network went down, then checked my account to see "bill not paid".
Speeds also improved, from a constant 1Mbps(all day, all night) to 5Mbps now.

Okay, same story my end. Account in arrears. Paid online and back in business. Speeds were solid, 170Mbps... which is fast for this time of the day, usually around 90-130Mbps...
