Rain stops selling standalone uncapped 4G packages

Am happy mybroadband article indicated how useless is this sim1 and sim2 thing, they should have maybe introduce 5G mobile something similar to old 4G unlimited data maybe off peak unlimited data R300 taking into account starting price of R559 is twice the price of previous entry level 4G plan which is popular plan
 
It's almost like they don't want new customers anymore...

If you have fibre at home but just want to use their mobile data you can't. If you just want to use the home 5G because you don't have fibre you can't. They are forcing you to bundle it which is the worst decision they have ever made...

I even tried to contact them to highlight this issues let's hope they will realize you don't need bundle everything
 
Who cares Rain sucks balls, basically every week someone complains how useless their service and billing is. They are worse than Telkom and that says a lot.

Why? You're just paying R60 more and AFAIK there's no streaming limits?

Yes I guess this RainOne package only favour someone that wants 5G home as they are slightly better priced and they throw in a mobile simcard also which isn't bad. Any other combinations are worse now.

No more unlimited mobile data for phones. If you had a dual sim that package wasn't bad actually because there was no streaming or download limits on it. The R250 or was is R269 after the increase plan was great for having it in a mifi. It was cheap and offered a decent amount of internet for cheap. I think this was the best plan they had. The 10Mbps unlimited anytime wasn't as well priced even comparing to ADSL but it was something that people could use if they had no alternative.

The home 5G even though it falls back to 4G it's not mobile like the previous 4G packages. These 5G simcards only work in the 5G routers you can put the sim in a mifi or phone where you could with the legacy 4G packages. In my mind as a "mobile network" that is going backwards.
 
Perhaps data only business model is not fully sustainable (for more than 5 years) so seek ways to grow revenue etc and make more returns on more investments , so now become "fully fledged mobile offering" and give the bigger players some competition and also give the MVNO's a run for their monies

Should keep the investors and shareholders happy for a little longer

In a short while they would probably offer insurance solutions as well since Patrice Motsepe owns a chunk of Sanlam and probably add a banking product to portfolio as well care of Michael Jordaan's expertise
 
Sooo, what are the alternatives now (because even for existing customers, I am pretty sure we will be forced off soon) for the 19 hour R265 uncapped option (from other service providers).
I believe they are leaving a huge gap now, which can easily be picked up by another operator

Telkom offers the same package on prepaid
