*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Is there a problem with international traffic?! Can't access Facebook all day and other websites like Wikipedia etc. Also, keep dropping my Guild Wars connection.

Same here: sometimes international pages will load; sometimes not. I wonder if this is something to do with the Egyptian attempts to "switch off" the internet - their initial in-country efforts started to fail once people began setting up international dial-up numbers (the landline network was still functioning, though mobile and broadband were down, so French and other ISPs set up dial-up access points), so they may be trying other methods. We've seen hamfisted attempts by repressive governments have this effect before.

Very erratic connection today. My FTP up/downloads have aborted several times this morning. So much wasted time trying to determine first if the issue is on my side although all bets are on it being Iburst yet again.

I don't see any connectivity issues on the Vodacom 3G forum. They would surely also be affected by Egyptian meddling. Iburst has been rickety several times this past week, so I suspect this is another symptom of those underlying problems. I really do wish they would take us subscribers/users seriously when we bring problems to their attention. Unfortunately denial is their usual reaction.

National backhaul cable break

There was a fibre outage between Durban and Mtunzini which resulted in an outage on the east coast route and congestion on the redundant west coast routes.
The national fibre provider has rerouted this connection. Both east and west coast are back online at 19h30. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I'm also having issues. I keep getting disconnected from Xbox LIVE, and the connectivity test says it's a DNS resolution problem. Some browsing issues too.

Still having disconnections. Resorting to 3G to get on line. How come when there are cable breaks etc it is only Iburst that falls over?
