*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Thursday morning maintenance window

From 0:00 to 3:00 on Thursday morning (normal scheduled weekly change window) there will be major upgrades occuring on the iBurst Metroethernet network. Since the iBurst backhauls are on this network, subscribers will probably experience intermittent disconnects.

Apologies for the interruptions.

Eg: I click on www.cnn.com and the connection just pauses and then I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

Then I click again on cnn and it goes through. I have to refresh the page to get a pulse.

Looks like it's just me and The Techie that have issues, no one else is complaining.

Ah, I also see the ukelections site is taking some strain. Maybe because of a high hit count?

I am getting "problem loading page, Server not found" on numerous sites tonight, even I had to refresh www.myadsl.co.za three times to get to it. This sounds more like a general issue.

I'm also experiencing DNS errors, IE cannot display the page etc.

Some of the links I have tried tonight:
www.live.com
www.iburst.co.za
www.steampowered.com
www.google.com
www.skype.com

The list goes on...

This is posted using my Vodacom 3G card, so the problem is certainly isolated to the iBurst network.

On top of this I sent Gcebile a PM to help me, more than 24 hours ago. Still no reply...where is our friend Shaun Green? I wish he was still here to help...sigh

Please post the urls that are problematic.

This one for example, though it's not limited thereto. In fact any given site (Google, Yahoo, News24, etc) also occasionally have either "Cannot display" or "DNS error" messages. However after a few refresh attempts they sometimes display, sometimes not.

Even my server in America (which is accessible via Vodacom 3G) returns a DNS error. Though I'm not giving anybody that address :p

For me it's fine now, flying like a boeing.

Thanks...;)

Still have plenty of DNS and 404 errors, including Gmail, Google and MyBroadband (to name but a few).
Same here - although not on google/gmail, etc, but a log of other international sites. And it's random, intermittent, annoying, etc, etc

Any ideas on when this will (finally) be sorted?

Thanks for the info/update.

Today is even worse than last night. I have to refresh a page so many times to get anywhere.

Helpdesk is going to get very busy today.

Um........not!
Well, its okay for some sites, but not the ones I need to admin.
Sometimes its works fora few minutes, then BAM! DNS error again.
Its just impossible to work!
