*READ FIRST* MTN Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

MTN just sucks, they obviously know theres a problem if so many people experience the same issues, but they can't be bothered
 
I got no problems with MTN on either of my numbers. Prepaid and contract. Maybe I'm just lucky :p
 
MTN 3G Down

Once again MTN is down and call centre clueless about what is going on - how long will the downtime be this time
 
Speak to mtn data dude. Since he did whatever he did i haven't any problems.
 
I couldn't connect since last night. :mad:

This morning however I managed after trying hundreds of times.

I don't know whats up with MTN lately but it's starting to tick me off. :mad:
I used to have no problems with them, but lately it's been getting worse. :(

I keep getting random instant disconnects, I'll be surfing along no problem and as I click a link the connection instantly dies. :(
I'm also constantly experiencing downtimes where I cannot connect for several hours or only after trying hundreds of times. :mad:

What I do know is that this continuous down time/disconnecting syndrome appears to be only affecting prepaid simcards. My brother has a MTN contract phone and he also uses a prepaid simcard for internet only. Whenever these downtimes occur he is always still able to connect with his contract phone.

MTN, please sort out your prepaid data.. :rolleyes:

Can you all send me the Prepaid numbers that you have issues connecting with together with the exact times that this issue occurs. Please also supply physical location. I will try and assist.

MTN is down again as I type, just wont make a connection. It was down last night as well at 3am, why would a network be down at 3am?!? the previous night at 2am it would not connect either, all the way till 10am it was down.
The times vary so its impossible to give a time when it will be down.
Why are MTN having constant down times as seen on this forum by many other users, experiencing the same problem, country wide? Theres many other threads about this.
When will it end, is what I want to know.
 
Absolutey pathetic...... seems to be down again. been like this for the past month! I see Dr Data taking peoples details down ??? for what when this is affecting well everyone!
Im on Prepaid think contract is fine tho
 
The nigerians are known to take their telephone networks to court and sue them for deteriorating services through a Class Action Sue.i wonder if that happened in RSA Wouldn't it solve all our problem?Mtn,cellc,voda & Telkom etc never promising what they can't deliver?Food for thought.Even if the do deliver ,they would not be allowed to let the service deteriorate.Strange because in nigeria Mtn is the network that got sued.

poor very poor coverage by mtn

Good day I just want to know why mtn have such a poor coverage in the (suburb)Sterkspruit (town)Lydenburg ,I have moved from east London to Lydenburg and i use my data card for my business and since I have moved here it has been a real problem even just trying to download an email which takes for ever ,more than 25min for 1mb wont even talk about downloading something from the net max is between 400 & 900b , I was told that mtn where upgrading there coverage but that was in the beginning of 2007, vodacom coverage is 3g in this area why can mtn give the same seen that i pay for 3g but cant even use it due to your poor coverage . if you can't help me will it help if i buy a high gain antenna kit , and if yes will a 800 - 22000mhz 11dbi lpda help me out till mtn get there act together and give there service to the Lydenburg people which i am sure are quite a few mtn user's
 
Another high call volumes and 3G goes down

Like clockworks. Every week night from 8 pm until 10 pm sometimes later we in Ferndale, Randburg 3G goes down. The call centre clams that it is caused by the number of people on the network. I am tired of this. I can't understand why I should be told when to the MTN network. Is there any one in Ferndale experiencing the same problem? I know that Voda clients have it worst.

It does seem on peak times from 20:00-22:00
MTN kickes people from the network tower.
I live next to a MTN tower can throw it with rocks id i feel like it but i still get *** connection.This is with 100% signal strength.
Maybe i should climb ontop of the tower with my modem and laptop.

I complained about this alot got revrence number each time i phone i am told its been fixed but nothing happens.

If a guy living next to a tower gets disconnected and bad speeds dont wana know what others get.

was fine last year this year seems mtn is downgrading

Pathetic 3G Coverage

Anyone experiencing pathetic 3G download speeds in the Midrand area? also for the past week now I couldn't make a call out on 3G, 2G works fine, I called the coverage help desk and they say everything s fine :mad:

Dude i get *** download speeds and disconnections and i live next to the damn MTN 3g tower i can throw it with a rock.
I am gone start thorowing it with rocks if if disconnects again.

And each time i phone say the connection is slow they say they have already checked and fixed the tower.
