Ready, Steady, Cook...

Er, not too sure - baking and desserts aren't my forte to be honest. You could do a tarte-tatin or a fruit crumble type thing. OK, let me put my thinking cap on.

What fresh fruit do you have firstly?

I have an idea for a fruit lasagne - sounds gross doesn't it? But instead of pasta you use fruit and instead of bechamel you use a flavoured cream - like apples thinly sliced with a caramel-cinnamon cream, topped with some of the coconut and popped in the oven. You could make a coconut-crumb for the top instead...

mmm, that sounds yummy, but I don't have apples.

I've got watermelon, spanspek (green and orange), prickly pears, mangoes, banana, grapes (green and black), peaches and plums

Don't ask me See, yesterday, we had to plate a fruit platter and I used the entire contents of your kitchen plus apples, oranges gooseberries, blackberries and raspberries and kiwi and pineapple to make this fruit platter with muscadel reduction, and most of the fruit ended up in the bin
The final fruit platter had 9 pieces, sorry, slivers. They say knife skills and perfectly cut fruits are more important. More fruit for the bin.:o

:mad: I hate wasting fruit (or food)

the fruit is still from what I bought/was given for eldest 5th bday party last sunday. I am enjoying it lots.

EDIT: btw, I can read all the anger in there about the food wastage and time that went into the preparation, just to have it in up in the bin

I'm going to make steamed mussels in white wine sauce, but here's the catch, it's for Muslim friends. What's a good substitute for white wine in cooking?

De-gassed sparkling grape juice (beat with a fork will de-gas it) + white grape vinegar:

ratio: 1 cup juice to 1 tblsp vinegar.

How bout ordinary grape juice like Liquifruit? or does it have to be de-gassed sparkling?
