[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

Same thing happened to me last night and this morning eventually got my login username and password changed successfully. Something strange happened to me though: It seems that the Kodi name on the DSTV register changed as all of sudden I had maxed out on my 4 devices. I managed to delete an old unused device but now see that I have two Kodi devices listed.
  • Kodi
  • KODI
I updated to the latest DSTV Now Add-on recently as well as Kodi 18.4. How can I tell which one of these two is the correct one? Anyone know where the Kodi name is defined that DSTV Now uses? I need to delete whichever is the old Kodi device as I need another phone.

From what I can see on the list on my device, the order is:
- 1st device - the device you are currently using.
- Device 2 to 4 - in order of addition from newest to oldest.

(Definitely not alphabetical.)

So 2 would be new, and 3 old Kodi.

Brilliant, thanks AirWolf, that is very useful feedback, much appreciated. Further Questions:
  • Each device has a very long 40-character strings.
  • Where does this number come from in Kodi? I ask because the two Kodi device names have different strings. Is this configurable?
  • Can the name (Kodi) be changed?

I don't have any answer for those - maybe someone else knows?

Does anyone know why these password resets are happening? Is this an issue with the DSTV system or are they trying to route out Kodi DSTV Now users?

Just go into the settings of the kodi app - under 'general' you can select the device name. I suggest deleting both kodi devices via your phone app and then you will see it being added according to the name you specified in the settings the first time you play a channel. Kodi app should always only add 1 device and even if you change the name from the default 'kodi' to something else another device with he kodi addon will use it - basically allowing unlimted kodi addons in parallel.

No password resets on my side. Only problems I have had in the last 2 weeks was when the boks played and the servers got overloaded.

I could reset my password last night and could login.

My SS1 stream started freezing and I stopped and cannot get in again - No JSON object. :(

The strange thing is that the DSTV Now app on my iPad works through all this. Is there an issue with the Kodi Addon that struggles when there are streaming overload issues from DSTV?

It's definitely strange. I could stream through both the Android app and the website during the game but had no luck with the add-on.
