His point is your comparison of Apartheid with affirmative action is really absurd.
 
Yeah the details. Like all Jews were forcibly expelled from their jobs, universities, and completely shunned from society. Quite extreme.

That's not exactly how affirmative action works: it's just a policy of hiring more african people.
 
If you're going to use an analogy or comparison, just think about it a little.

The holocaust is practically unique in history, you can't compare it to anything.

I am very glad to hear that you understand what a fscked-up and evil system Apartheid was, and that it in no way compares to the current system of affirmative action.

In summary, Apartheid created an unbalanced, unhealthy society. Yes you can even argue about that, but the fact is we have an unbalanced, unhealthy society. The type that resorts to crime, violence, even murder and rape. Now how are we going to fix it?

Don't fool yourself, Rwanda was just the other day. And there are many instances like that in history - read up about Joseph Stalin, Genghis Khan, Mao Zedong, etc, etc, etc.

although it is over exaggerated by modern day propaganda and those who never lived during the apartheid years, it has also been accredited and blamed for a lot of things that would have made John Voster proud:D

on the serious side: AA is not comparable to apartheid, but it can be compared to Verwoerd's policy of job reservation (comparing policies with systems is like comparing apples with Julius Malema),

We normally fix it at the voting booth, but hey, you have people who vote for the ANC and still want their bread buttered on both sides. Dit gaan my verstand te bowe, maar nou ja, wie is ek om te kla.

My advice to you would be to start finding out why people are still voting for the ANC. Once you understand that, a lot of your questions will have been answered.

Not really, if you add 1927 then things start to look much the same. Maybe we are in 1930 now.

I can't get a job at the moment because of AA. Now please explain the difference.

Maybe the difference is that we don't have to wear a Star of David because we already have white skins ?

Slavery and apartheid lasted for awhile and the extent of that damage is still unknown. A lot of African countries have made progress especially Kenya, Egypt, Botswana, but we are missing something. We need to be united as one country, or at the very most 2-3. We have these borders here that were placed by who?(Europeans)

Do you notice that the most divided continent(too many countries) in the world is Africa and it is the poorest...Europeans liked this system but they have now introduced the European UNION pretty much meaning the countries are united(like the US)

Why can't we Africans do the same?(f'd up world eh?)

they will not allow me to wait for more than 5 hours each day to apply a stupid visa. (2 days already, still not done yet!!!! :mad:) :rolleyes:

Dude, knowledge needs to be sought to be found. Don't make "stupid" assumptions like the ones you've listed up there: go and talk to some of your black friends and ask them to help explain it to you.

It always amazes me how in one thread forumites advocate the retention of reminders of times gone past, however, in the next thread they refuse to acknowledge even the possibility of what the past has on us today...
