Returning my Takealot order - An awesome experience

An "awesome experience" is one that doesn't involve returns. :D

I believe that in order to list and sell on Takalot, the supplier are supposed to keep atleast 20K worth of stock in the warehouse of takealot regardless the value of the actual item
So 20,000 Rain sim cards...

Returning to Loot was quick and painless. I don't see why service as it should be has to be praised.

In my experience Loot makes you pay to return items. Takealot, for all of their faults, has the best returns policy and system I have experienced.

Overnight courier. Didn't pay a cent. Maybe if it's something you just don't feel you want.

Wrong item but would have been the same regardless. Refund was also quick. Yes I understand that but it's not a good business model and I don't expect it.

I was also impressed with how easy it is to log a return. Unfortunately for me, I purchased 2 32” Samsung SMART HD READY tv’s on 9 December 2019. It was delivered on 17 December 2019 and when i arrived at home, i realized that they had sent me the lower specked NOT SMART tv’s. I immediately logged a return request and was soon contacted via email by a consultant. I explained the problem, because I especially needed the SMART tv’s with network capabilities on which he replied that they will log the return, then refund me. I requested them rather to replace it with the items that I ordered. He said that it won’t be possible because the supplier that I bought it from is out of stock of that particular SMART tv. I must take the refund and re-order. I tried to explain to him that it is obvious that takealot made the mistake by not checking the items an I didn’t buy from someone else; I shopped on TAKEALOT and payed Takealot, not another supplier. They didn’t budge from this point and arranged for collection. On 21 December 2019 the courier collected the 2 tv’s, but only had one barcode sticker. The tvs were returned and finally on 27 December 2019 I got a message that it was received at the warehouse. Shortly after, I received notification that I was credited and the return was concluded. I then logged in, searched for the 2 Samsung 32” Smart tv’s that was still at the same price, and proceeded to purchase only to realize that I was credited for 1 tv and not 2 tv’s. I tried to quarry this result, but because it was “concluded “, there was no way to get assistance in this regard. At the end i was forced to log a new return for the tv that is not in my possession anymore on 3 January 2020. A collection was then scheduled and when the courier driver called me for the collection, I explained what had happened. It was the same driver that collected my 2 tv’s on 21 December and he promised to talk to his supervisor as he could clearly remember the collection. Nothing happened. On 2020-01-12 I finally received an email from another takealot consultant and could finally explain that they took my 2 tv’s and credited me for 1. She promised to investigate. On 13 January 2020 the morning I received notification that they had credited me for the second tv finally! I then logged in on takealot to buy my 2 tv’s only to find that on this same day before I received my refund, the pricing had gone up with R700 each and I need to pay in R1400 if I want to buy these 2 tv’s. Needless to say, in future I will be very hesitant to buy from takealot again and especially in returning more than 1 of the same items. From what i have heard, it seems like a common problem with takealot when returning multiple amounts of the same item then you only get a refund for 1 item. Please test this for your self and as all ways, give me your honest result. Thank you.

Let me help you so other people will actually read the above wall of text:

That's not what their website says. Unwanted items have a return cost on Loot, but not on Takealot.

They should. It's not a charity. But wrong items don't. Takealot doesn't care because they pass it on to the supplier with penalties. With the price you pay on Takealot it also perhaps should be free return for unwanted goods.

I'm not arguing for which way it should be, simply pointing out that Takealot does free returns no questions asked, while Loot doesn't.
