Review: HTC HD2

Congrats!
For volume, try the standard rocker button at upper left-side of the phone. Top half of the button is vol up, bottom half is vol down ;)

Thank you. Was canning myself, my friend showed me the button on the side to change the volume. Now I just need to find out where I can find goodies to play on my phone.

Hmm most reviews still praise the HTC HD2 vs the EVO but i must say the 8mp camera and android are good competition.
Seems i may prefer it to the HD2 :(!

I think the Android OS may tip the scales in favour of the EVO at this point in time, altho I'm curious to see what Win Phone 7 OS has to offer. If it lives up to widespread expectation, then perhaps the EVO will have to step aside for a WP7 counterpart ....HD3 perhaps????
For now HD2 camera is pretty good as it is. In fact there was some suggestions that it is actually an 8mp chip inside instead of a 5mp. Some registry tweaks have optimised the image to approx 7mp equivalent. So, unless they've improved the lens I doubt the photos will be noticeably better on the EVO.

I've never used 3G video-calling on any of my phones, except as a test once, so the EVO's 1.3MP front camera is not of interest to me. I'm also wondering how a pouch is going to work with the kickstand - it may actually be better to have a pouch that has it's own kickstand rather than put it on the phone itself.
One thing that does seems very interesting about EVO is it's HD video capabilities

Anyway, I don't usually keep my phones for more than a year, so November is upgrade time for me! By then the successor to HD2 should hopefully make it debut with real, substantial improvements. We live in interesting times...:D

Just a pitty I still don't have my HD2 after placing an order at my local Vodashop last week.

Yeh - Vodacom obviously doesn't need new sales. I've tried various stores - and VodacomDirect - and none respond.

I'm doing an upgrade. Vodacom is advertising this phone in there booklet now since 4 March. It's now three weeks with no stock. This is pathetic!!!

Woohoo! Awesome news my phone is in!!! They just clearing the paperwork and should be mine tomorrow or Sunday!!! Also for the rest of you MTN ppl they got stock on 23rd at head office and shipped out to smaller offices on the 24th! So you should get it shortly :) Btw HD2 will no longer get the Winmobile 7 upgrade, does not support requirements :(

Personally I won't go for a Win 7 phone. Just the fact that there's no file sharing puts me off.

So when Windows mobile 7 is available would Microsoft have their own applications store available in South Africa?

Another thing is there no way to video call even with the back cam?

But surely that's gonna cost alot more than on contract, not to mention shipping, duties and warranty loss ?

Well if Vodacom's so f-ing useless with new customers - what am I mean to do? I've asked them multiple times, they just keep screwing me around.

I had the Canal Walk store promise to call me as soon as they had stock at the beginning of March - this after they'd already wasted my time by telling me they did have stock, and I got all the documents they required.... last week a guy walks into the office with a new HD2 from Vodacom - guess where he got it, a week earlier from the same Canal Walk store.

Was at Cellucity in Melrose arch yesterday, had a look at the plastic replica HD2, liked it, filled out a form, ported my number from Mtn and Nashua to Vodacom and Cellucity, phone ready for pickup either later today or tomorrow morning!!!! Great service from these guys!!

Why is Vodacom the only provider struggling to have stock of the hd2 ????????
