Review: HTC HD2

Just loaded 1.72 ROM (HK WWE) on my HD2. Previously had 1.66. Don't see much of a diffs yet, but some HTC Sense bugs fixed as per XDA-Dev thread. No RSS Hub app included in this ROM, but XDA-Dev fixed that, as always.

Still hugely enjoying the HD2.

ok where is the GPS on this thing?? i got mine recently but i dont seem to have GPS software.

Probably didn't come with GPS software - they usually don't.

Download google maps :)

Hallelujah I got mine on Monday. Got Google maps on it. This is the best phone I ever had. Can't see why people are dissing Win Mobile. It works great!!! Another winner from HTC!!!

Unfortunately HTC don't usually supply GPS software with their phones, so you will have to buy a package or settle for Google Maps which should be pre-installed on your HD2. Googlemaps is not very accurate in terms of pinpointing your location on the map and it uses 3G data for the map so you can expect data usage costs from your network provider.

Because of the extraordinary high specs of the HD2, it runs Winmobile quite efficiently, hence your saisfaction. But understandably, earlier models being lower-specced as they are, were more clunky with Win Mobile which gave Win Mobile a bad name. Congrats, I share your enthusiasm for this amazing phone!

I like my phone to.. but you will soon realise how un user friendly it is. I mean if my Mom would get this phone, she would struggle.

You have to select the 'Use GPS' tick-box in the Google Maps menu tab for it to use the GPS ;) . I don't think it saves the maps tho - just loads the parts on the screen as you move.

Loaded Dutty's Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.23569.5.5.0_2.14_Holy_Grail_576MB_V4.2_EN on the HD2 this weekend. Great Rom! Also updated the Radio to 15.40.50.07U.
16 Home page app shortcuts. Lots of nice goodies. Very stable.

Get it from HTCPedia.

Hows your battery life?

Hows your battery life?
Certainly considerably better than the previous WWE 1.72 Hong Kong ROM I had. I'm not strictly monitoring the battery life as it hasn't become an issue. Charge every night while sleeping. I leave wifi and bluetooth on all the time. Sorry I can't be more granular.
