Review: HTC HD2

Well, I phoned Leaf two weeks ago and they assured me they've distributed it to all the service providers. That was on the 18'th of March. Why aren't these phones available? Popularity or is someone messing around? I'm wondering if I'm not to cancel my order and wait for the Desire to hit the streets. Naybe that will also be a mockup and will wait for two months more :(

Well if Vodacom's so f-ing useless with new customers - what am I mean to do? I've asked them multiple times, they just keep screwing me around.

I had the Canal Walk store promise to call me as soon as they had stock at the beginning of March - this after they'd already wasted my time by telling me they did have stock, and I got all the documents they required.... last week a guy walks into the office with a new HD2 from Vodacom - guess where he got it, a week earlier from the same Canal Walk store.

This is why I buy all my phones overseas. I even got mine the day before it was officially released in Asia - wasn't cheaper, but I walked into the store and walked out with it a few mins later. Instant gratification! :D No "we will order it and have it for you in maybe 2 weeks time..." BS!

Ordered through MTNSP Handset division got it hand deliverd to me in 2 days. 23rd to 25th March. Try Xolile Marota 0119123000. Did upgrade to the MTN 500 package at the same time though.

This was Vodacoms answer this morning:

Dear M Kruger

Please note the HTC HD2 was launched by Vodacom. We currently do not have any stock available and this includes our Upgrade Division and various Vodashop Outlets.

As per our Procurement Division, they have confirmed that the manufacturer is unable to provide us with an estimated time of arrival for the handset.

Kind Regards

Candice Petersen

hahaha, I understand your frustration. They actually emailed me late on Monday afternoon to say the phone was ready for collection. Not bad considering the paper work was processed Sunday afternoon around 2ish..

I don't think you understand my frustration. This was one BIG upgrade for me. I actually counted the last days towards my upgrade. Now two weeks down the road I lost that lust for the new phone. I'm totally p***d off and can't care anymore. Aag, let's just wait for the damn thing, it's just a phone!!

SO you can have mine then... Get a 3GS 16gb and we can swop... I like the iPhone so much I want another...

Wish I could swap, I already placed an official order and is booked on the system. Why don't you like the HD2? I think spec wise the HD2 is far better. And I want the radio, which the iPhone don't have.

IMO, the HD2 is more for tech geeks, the iphone is for normal users. Each has it's following, but as we all know there are more user-types than techy-types in this world. No doubt the HD2 is technologically better equipped in almost every way, but iphone is ahead in terms of aesthetics & ease of use.
As a gadget-freak, the iphone would never do it for me for more than a few days, but it may be different for you...

I hear the iPhone can't do file sharing. Many people mail stuff to themselves and safe it from the email. Don't know if it's true. I'm a Techy for sure. Never been the type of person who like limitations on a device.

I've been able to do more on my iPhone than on any "smart phone" I've ever owned. Out the box the iPhone has its limitations but for every one of its limitations there 100 remedies in the form of the 1000's of apps written specifically for the iPhone.

But do I have to buy them? That would make my R7000 iPhone become a R10000 phone. I wonder if that's not the road ahead for many phones. They give you the basics then you must buy the rest?

Most are free or alternatively dirt cheap.
