Rib-eye steak

Nothing beats cast iron? But then you ask why people waste time on a pan steak? Cast iron is a pan.

So confused.

It takes infinitely longer to braai as well, so where is the time waste exactly?

haha i have a cast iron hot wheel and some have cast iron grids so not really pans

but the pans im taking about is normal non stick pans or bauers

and sometimes to braai a steak takes 30 mins ... not that long

Can’t say I’ve seen a radical difference with results between my cast iron pan and my nonstick one.

Maybe you have a kak stove or something?

I prefer the cast iron though when making sauce because I can scrape the bottom without a worry.

i use a cast iron hot wheel

there is a big difference with the gas cast iron hot wheel giving a charred flavour

Oh like a Cadac move.

Never knew that was called a wheel. I just call it a grill pan.

yeah the alva one i have is called that but same like the cadac

but its different to a normal pan on the stove

even a cast iron on a normal stove i dont think gets the same flavour as a cast iron on a gas stove or open flame

but the pan steaks im talking about is like using ceramic or non stick pans where you get a crust but you use herbs and lots of garlic and butter for basting and flavour

Herbs and garlic and basting is what I call a good thing.

Just not as possible on a fire or Cadac but you can still use a herb butter which works well.

yeah multiple ways and all looks good

each to his own as well
some like salt and pepper

some like marinate or some herb marinate even or butter

I wouldn't have used so much milk, butter and cheese (and I forgot I also added some English mustard) if I weren't real potatoes.
You forgot to add some grated nutmeg too it seems :)

I didn't have Rib-Eye. But tried pan fry again.

Fry for about a minute to minute and half in a tiny bit of olive oil each side. Then add in unsalted-butter with fresh rosemary for another 2 minutes each side.

Other option is Weber Q series gas - grid is cast iron - heat it for 15 minutes - sorted. Great for steak, tuna or salmon steaks, lamb chops and the like too.

NO NO NO, **** insta read they are shite.

Get this instead.

My wife got me this one. Haven't used it, but looks very fancy. Its the iGrill Mini, so needs a phone, Bluetooth and the app to see the temperature. Doesn't show temp on the device. Gonna test in chicken tomorrow and the red meat (wagyu or Tbone) over the weekend.

Yeah a mate of mine has one and it works very well.

And now you can never duck it up ever again.

Don’t know if it will work in your Airfryer though, but probably.

I have a Meater+ which works anywhere due to being wireless.

Oh, I am on a weekend away in the midlands. Have a proper wood Braai. If not on braai, I make steaks in pan. Chicken is difficult to mess-up, in the airfryer anyways. Steak I usually either over cook or under cook, so super excited.
