RICA deadline extended

Cabinet has approved a six-month extension of the deadline for the registration of customers of mobile cellular operators.

Thought as much... if it weren't for MTN's Zakhele I wouldn't have bothered with the December deadline.

Yay!

It will probably be extended again later as well.

Not all of Zuma's kids could have been registered by December so they had to extend it.

I'm contract customer with Vodacom who had my address, ID number etc for the last 11 years. Why do I need to go in to a store to go verify my details they already have.

Is there a site somewhere that you can check your RICA status on?

OK, who is surprised? Raise your hands!

Just like FICA stopped all money laundering etc, RICA will stop all criminals using phones, emails, etc... And the moon is made of cheese

Agree 100%

When I took out my contract they got all my info. If they need it again they can kiss my a$$. and if they really need to do something. Cancel my contract.

Why bother to extend? Cut off the people who have not registered.
They deserve all the hassle they will have afterwards.

And the mobile operators will "cut off" the revenues from all the rural folk who have no proof of address?? Haha!

what is the whole point of RICA? criminals will not register their sim cards they would rather rob/kill someone for a phone and use that.
So how is RICA going to help?
