Rocketnet - feedback?

Here is some feedback of my sign up and experience with Rocketnet. TL;DR It was awesome!

The sign up process was easy. I got the Black Friday deal (only ISP that was running any decent fibre deals, good on you). I moved from another popular C Fibre ISP. I was signed up within 30 mins. 100 points for how easy it was.

Activation. The free Archer C2 router was delivered on the day and time I arranged. The router is better than the crappy one I got from my other ISP and it was pre-configuted. 200 points for that. My line wasn't switched from my previous ISP by SADV accounts, so i took a chance and tried to chat to Rocketnet support via the website, low and behold, they actually responded. Another 100points. The support team was very helpful and resolved it early this morning (SADV accounts were closed yesterday and Rocketnet support emailed AND called me to let me know the issue had been resolved).

Performance. Great.

I stream a lot. Twitch and Netflix work like a charm. 1000 points.

So far my experience with Rocketnet has been above par. I really hope things stay good and that this isn't just a honeymoon period. Also, it would be nice to extend the Black Friday price for the rest of the year :D

It is the second day, the torrent is running up and down from 2Mb to 15Mb.

Speed test also, the max speed is about 16Mb.

I am using 20/2 Vumatel, can anyone tell me what is the problem?

PS: the first two days I had that was about 22 Mb, the problem started from 1/1, any idea?

(Most of the time is about 10Mb, and it is stable @10Mb)

I don't think that is the problem of torrents, I think that is congestion.

Havent noticed any congestion on 20mbit at all... Downloads run at 2-2.4mb/s. Upload speed is great.

Would seem that Vox (previous isp) has been shaping my uploads. No such problems with RocketNet.

Pings to CSGO and Pubg are low and stable. Haven't really tested any other MP games.

for the first three days .... yes

then no.

I would say that is occasional.

for the past 2 weeks, the speed of Rocketnet is stable. No major issue, beside for the the first 2 days of this year I experienced congestion. Up to now, that is stable and fast. :)

Had a small balls-up in the Durbanville area a day or two ago, but it seems that was Vuma related. Other than that, its been smooth sailing.

If you forced me to moan about something, I guess CSGO pings could be a bit better. Only getting ~15ms to local DM servers, where some guys get 5ms.

Not that I would even notice the difference...

Based on all of this I signed up with Rocket Net today. Let’s cross fingers and hope I’m not the one unlucky guy to be disappointed

I’ve referred 5 people at work...all happy. I’m still happy myself, of course.

So got my CPE installed today. Only delay is me waiting on one guy to activate my package @Ronald-RocketNet Is this normal?

Hi Mohamed

I’ll get this sorted for you, and investigate why this happened.

Hi Rocketnet.

Fibre rollout is in progress in my area, and I was looking at pre-ordering. If I pre-order, when will my first payment become due?
At time of activation?
Also, I noticed that you give an installation voucher valued at R 1710 with your 100/100 package and you credit it over six months. Can you explain how this works? Do I have to pay it first to Vumatel and you then give it back to me in installments?
Please advise.

I’ll take the liberty of answering because I’ve gone through your exact same scenario.

RocketNet give you discounted billing every month over 6 months (-R285). Vumatel will bill you for installation when they are ready - it can take up to 4 months. One doesn’t care about the other, they are completely independent.

Your first bill with RocketNet will be the first month-end after your line going live.

That’s correct

So you get a 1710 credit to your account over 6months, so you end up paying R910 for the first six months instead of R1195

You are able to arrange a payment plan with Vumatel for the R1710 as far as I’m aware, they still allow this.
