RocketNet on Vumatel

UPDATE: I've been called by Vumatel and installation has been arranged for this Saturday (09 June) in the morning! Verrry happy with Rocknet keeping my updated as much as they have. Expecting the router will be delivered in the coming days as well. I'm excited now :p:D

any idea which contractor is coming to do the install at your place?

Signed up yesterday. Starting to think of cancelling off of the last few posts. Sad, they offered R705 for Vuma 20/2.

Is everybody else getting issues at this point with Rocketnet?

Recently signed up, and to be honest I had spectacular service.

My one reply on a support ticket wasnt being replied to, jumped on website chat and was sorted out in 5 minutes by Mike.

Activation time, from when I added the package on the Vumatel portal till the time I was live, was about 10 minutes. That was only because I had to wait 10 minutes before restarting my router :D

Dont let one bad review put you off. Unfortunately **** happens.

I must say, the experience has been nothing but stellar thus far. At the moment I'm just waiting to get the installation done in a couple of days (and receiving the router from RocketNet).

Cool, same guys that did mines, good guys ,neat work. I wanted them to install a specific way and they were happy to comply.

Great to hear. Hoping to be up and running before I go to Ellis Park for the Boks/England game :D

Update: The installation was done on Saturday morning. I had to go pick up the router myself on Friday though from Rocketnet in Northriding. The ONT was flashing red all day and night and I only got internet on Sunday morning (not sure why it took so long), but it's been smooth sailing since then. So in total, it was 6 days from my initial online order. Vumatel also stepped up on this one with the prompt installation.

Cool glad you sorted Vuma can take a while to activate the line probably the reason your ONT was flashing (mine took long as well)

WHat speed did you go for?
just note Rocketnet probably advised you already but the first bill is a whopper! - you pay the prorata for the current month + the they bill in advance for the next month + pls connection fee if applicable (so for you will be like from 10 June to 31 June then forr July so pretty much double your monthly + connection fee if applicable.
then Vuma will bill you the installation when they get round to it.

I went for 20/2 for now (R705).

I think future clients should take all the costs into account before signing up. The first month for me should look as follow:

Prorata (R23.50 *20 Days) = R470
Next month (advance) = R705
Activation fee = R500 (Not sure why it’s so expensive. Cool Ideas doesn’t charge for this, but then they charge R809 for the same package)
Vumtel Installation fee = R1750

Total = R3 425 for my month one.

Vuma is a bit slower on their invoicing I notice Rocket waives the connection fee on the 50Mb package

I went same 20/2
My first Rocket net bill was R1705 went of at the beginning of June and Vuma just send me their bill its R1725 so at least it's a bit spread over 2 months. Oh and Vuma does offer terms its not too bad add abouts R45 extra if you take over 3 months and R105 extra if over 6 months

Which area are you in BTW?

I was half-expecting the Vuma guys to bring a card machine on the day :D. I'd rather pay immediately than have their costs hanging over my head.

I'm in Ferndale.

I am a bit confused with Rocketnet at this point in time. I am currently with Metrofibre and have them as an ISP and want to change over to Rocketnet but with minimal downtime. I spoke to a consultant who said if I provide the cancellation date with Metrofibre I can change over to Rocketnet on the same day, but now I am being told I have to wait 3-4 weeks and my application will only be processed once Metrofibre has been cancelled and they have collected their router? (Which is scheduled for the end of this month) So my application will then be 3-4 weeks after the end of this month... Does anyone have any idea what to do because I don't want no internet for 3-4 weeks...?? Thanks :)

Good day

Please may you send an E-mail to [email protected] or provide me with your name and surname so that I can assist and follow up with our sales team as well as MFN to ensure minimal downtime.

Kind regards
Team Rocketnet
