Roku 3 from Amazon

They deliver via courier to your door. They also calculate the customs duties upfront and in my case a few months later got a refund of R10 for an overcharge.

Ah awesome. Thanks for that, think I'll be ordering one right now then.

I ordered my Roku direct from Amazon. Straight to my door and no extra fees.
Last Mon I ordered an Ouya. Arrive yesterday. No extra charges.

Ordering another Roku 3 tomorrow. Love these things.

For the guys that bought this : do you have to use a power transformer (us is 110v no?)

What did it cost at the current exchange rate?

no works out the box

The unit I have has a US 120VAC DC adapter. I don't want to be plugging this into one of our wall sockets. I do however have a local DC adapter with the same rating.

Can anybody else who ordered one from Amazon check which DC adapter they received?

EDIT:

Here is the adapter I received on the right, on the left is one from an old TP-Link router that I'm going to use instead - I just have to switch the connector at the end because the Roku uses a small one.

AFAIK you can just plug it in and it works without any issues.
Someone here has already tried it.

No thanks, I'll just use my 240V adapter. The Roku adapter is not rated to 240V.

EDIT: Okay, just did some checking and here is the official word from Roku:

The Roku 3 power adapter is rated at 110V because we are only selling Roku3 in the US at this time.

We understand that the power adapter manufacturer may publish a higher rating for the same model number in other places or in other products. For ours, it is based on 110V which we warranty.

If / when we take Roku3 international we will of course support 220v. Roku has not tested the current supply at 220V and therefore we do not recommend using it at 220V.

For those of you who wish to do things outside Roku's recommendations, we do state in the product specifications that the Roku3 runs on 12V @ 1A, center positive.
Obligatory warning statement: If you decide to use an non-Roku supplied power supply, or use our supply at a non-recommended input voltage, this may void your warranty and it may also not meet regulatory requirements for use in your country.

We apologize for any miscommunication that may have been provided to you before.

RokuGreg
