Perhaps but the price is just crazy considering it has a few limitations compared to the galaxy. The pricing is actually just insane as is the norm for apple products in this country.

Although the pricing that has been posted now seems a bit better.

Prices are ridiculous compared to the US iStore.....16GB Wifi only works out to R3500 excl import duties

Import duties would be 14% VAT. So R3990.

@bwana - Im struggling with video a bit, not sure yet how to stream from laptop and I loaded a few on the ipad, but they tend to freeze after 20 minutes, maybe I'm using the wrong apps?

I have VLC installed and don't have issues playing almost all format of videos on my iPad.

Seem to be a bit cheaper on some models. I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually quite keen to get one of these, I would prefer the Android platform but in terms either battery life, functionality and design none have come close to the iPad.

Look for Air Video - it will handle streaming perfectly and gives you a one touch conversion facility for when you want to load video onto your iPad.

How much is shipping and import taxes (from US to SA) anyway?

There's a 7% import duty on electronics and then on top of that you'll pay 14% VAT. The biggest expense is often the shipping!
