But guess what, with some good competition from the East, the likes of VW has out of nowhere managed to find a way to cut the price of some models.

China should just keep the boot on the neck and this country shall be fixed.

No, they have not yet cut any prices in SA. They have asked government for protection.

Same thing, they cut the price on that base by R800 so it falls under R400k.

Their base model is more expensive than a top spec from their competitor. They still think people are desperate to own their brand...

Brand loyalty remember, and like VW is special to Saffers apparently.

Yes, I was actually not batting on their side, just proving that they are under pressure and somehow managed to find some fat on the bone and the company did not collapse.

What I don't understand about all of you, besides Toyota, Ford, VW, MB, Isuzu, BMW and Nissan, and most recently whatever Stellantis is trying to do, the rest of the cars running on our roads were not manufactured here, you never had a problem, you never made noise.

Renault, all Stellantis products, Opel, Fiat, Peugeot and Citroen, Honda, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Kia, (yes they don't manufacture any passenger cars here @Agent69)

None of those build cars here, and it was all fine because they were just as overpriced and it was a nice cartel, you only wake up now and want to moan when the Chinese are bringing the competition we so desperately need.

Those guys have made a fortune off building cars here and selling them for ridiculous prices, time for a little, healthy competition, consumers can only benefit from

My problem isn't so much the competition itself as the Chinese not putting up factories here despite our government having good relations with them.

If the Chinese completely take over without putting up factories, then there will be no buffer when the other manufacturers close because of that competition.

That's why I welcomed the Chinese decision to set up factories here.
