SA Politics Thread Part 11: The GNU Normal

This made me check something. Taiwan exports more than half of its chips to China. Money talks and BS walks as they say.
True. And they make almost 90% of the world's semiconductors. Either way we're going to have to get it from another country that gets it from Taiwan, which means we pay a markup...

Just wholesale appropriating my previous posts. There's a reply button for that...

Can't remember. Did I get that pic from you? I lifted it from somewhere.

Maybe we just think alike?

Another blow to the auto industry, possibly the final nail. Taiwan might stop shipping semiconductors to SA. Tariffs just reduce demand, but you can still export. This will ensure that nothing gets built at all. ANC doesn't seem bothered...

So let's screw the economy even more for a pointless thing like forcing a name change or diplomatic mission location.

How do the anc always manage to amaze me at their stupidity even after all the stupid crap they've pulled up to this point

Elementary, my dear Spinelli. SA exports to China? $12bn. Total trade with Taiwan? 4bn ZAR.

Yeah cos semiconductors are only related to trade with Taiwan...

There is stupid and then there is your post.

It's not about the trade value, it's about the item. Semiconductors enable manufacturing, which is where the actual export money comes from. Without it you can't build cars or anything electronic...

Tempting but I'll pass this time. The question was why the anc treated Taiwan that way and I showed you why. That you're nettled by my use of the word elementary is neither here nor there, my dear Watson.

For the anc, it is the trade value. And they unfortunately do kowtow to China because of china's economic relationship which is more valuable than Taiwan

No I pointed out the stupid in the post. I didn't nettle about a use of a word.

Because of the precedent set.

The moment some indy businessman or something is elected mayor, etc, you can bet your arse the ANC stacked civil service will try to stifle 'em every step of the way.

And then you haven't got to the rampant corruption...

When all is said and done, you're removed over bullshit and some ANC-aligned oke takes your place.

Perfect storm coming soon...

Seems like everyone is getting sick of ANC's ****. Except Iran, Russia and China, of course.

Don't worry, when the auto manufacturers decide to close up shop because they can't even get supplies here, they're just moaners.

"Objectively" speaking...
