Lol. As if most South Africans vote on foreign policy issues. Only the educated care about that and they are a distinct minority in this country. Most DA supporters would be pro-West anyhow so she was doing well reflecting the views of her constituency.

Well we haven't been given a reason by the DA yet but it is speculated in the article that Frogboiler gave Johnny Boy an ultimatum and he caved. Remember she was the one who revealed the lie about Jonas...

Edit: I'd also prefer someone with a similar political nous/skill set of Helen Zille. I also don't think Steenhuisen is the best available leader for the DA out of the current talent pool.

I think he did well over his two terms and served his purpose, but I think it is time for new leadership.
