Some of it, yes. The business gets a lot of cash in and it costs money to bank it and it costs money to get it out again. So we get some get some of the salary in cash.

One almost never sees those 500 euro notes, they are phasing them out too.

Then the biggest will be EUR 200. So over R4000.. While the biggest SA note is worth about EUR 10, the second smallest EU note.

No tax arrangements. Everything is on the payslip. It save me and the wife a trip to the ATM every month.

Maybe you need to read this thread? More than half the country uses cash. Only the salaried and corporate are cashless. And their number is dwindling and will do so faster once the tariffs and unemployment hits. The value of cashless is greater, but the number of people using cashless is far less.

SA has an official unemployment rate of over 30% with over 60% youth unemployed. Almost half the country is on grants. Those people cannot afford even cheap bank accounts that charge them per transaction.
