You can also be damned sure that the subsurface for that paving has not been constructed to handle hundreds of vehicles an hour as well as the regular 10 - 20 ton trucks that will use the road.

Once its open to the traffic, I think conservatively 2 months before its showing signs of being fscked.

You can compact the substrate as much as you like. If water seeps into the substrate, it loosens the compaction by lubricating the substrate material, allowing movement of the crushed stone and gravel. The lime used to bind the substrate seeps away due to water ingress.

This is why potholes occur only once a tar road loses the ability to keep water out of the substrate. Paved roads are not sealed.

Well with all the photos doing the rounds over the period, the subbase is not a meter thick (contrary to your claim), the pavers seem to be stock standard pavers, not heavy duty ones.

As per Dada's own admission, the pavers aren't properly jointed yet, and if thats the case, the first few vehicles on that road will wreck it.

Looks fine to me, more or less the same standard as a tarred road, the concrete base is way more than adequate. The second contractor knows their job.

Concrete base? Are you sure about that? Its usually a compacted graded sand, perhaps with a bit of cement sprinkled.
