I think they did say something along those lines, but got the "special leave" vs "suspension" wrong.
But I'd also rather the DA commented once they're sure of things rather than knee jerk... also the DA are, as always, damned if they do and damned if they don't on everything.

Also being informed is not the same as being consulted. One is a one way path, other is a 2 way dialog.
I saw a follow on article today syaing that he only called some GNU leaders to pretty much inform them of his decision.

Look at how the anc ( with ASA's help ) managed to bungle so many constitutional items in the VAT increase

Been thinking about it and they could be trying to not implicate themselves in this mess in any way. Rather give the ANC a rope to go hang themselves. Cyril's decision is unpopular as it is, why would they want to play a part in it...

They have informed yes , and tried to get things rubber stamped , but never really consulted
