All we have to do is sit and watch as she burns her own little chances of being Mayor. To think she just started her run in media and already controversy surrounds her, by the time 2026 comes around, she would have tanked even that little 0,01% chance she and the DA had of taking Johannesburg.

I have a suspicion even Steenhuisen is seeing his chance, allow Zille to fail and prove to everyone in the DA that there is life after Zille.

They probably won't get a majority, I agree with that.

But the ANC is definitely not getting a majority either, and nobody is exactly running to be their friend after they collapsed the city. And it wouldn't surprise me if they fall to 3rd or 4th largest like they did in KZN. Even Herman is sober enough to start distancing himself. The EFF and Al-Jamahaha is also complicit in this collapse so they will probably take a hit too. The DA will get whatever they get. So that leaves MK as the dark horse.

The way it looks to me is everyone is isolated from everyone else. Nobody wants to be friends with each other and risk the further political fallout if they can't fix it. The DA is the only one putting their cock on the block with some kind of plan, whether anyone wants to be their friend or not...

The DA will likely beat the ANC. The problem is that most of the other parties are likely to go with an ANC coalition again. The DA only have the FF+ to rely on. And perhaps ACDP. The others are parties who like to have cushy jobs and the ANC would offer them more than the ANC and no risk of having to account.

Maybe if the DA humbles itself and tell Zille to go back to Cape Town and put forward another candidate, then they can be able to conjure a coalition with the likes of EFF and ActionSA, but you are going nowhere with Zille.

At the moment, yes, BUT lots of coalition negotiations do not follow an easy script. For example, many people thought the ANC would do anything to get at least one of the EFF or the MK in the GNU but both excluded themselves. There's also lots of insider trading of positions etc. that goes on that we as the public are not privy to.
