SA Post Office Strike

How the hell does that work? I've had my two EMS packages sitting at customs in Cape Town for over a week now with no way of contacting anyone to find out how I can get my packages. Frikkin EMS! Not airmail. There should not be delays once it gets to Cape Mail.

Then it's a customs delay. Maybe missing documents?

For some reason the customs always trust this one Kyoto based company that only delivers with EMS.

Call CapeMail.

I also have the details of the head guy there.... do you want them?

The company in question ALWAYS use a tariff code in their description and provide full price. Also they attach the invoice outside as well. But the invoice is never opened, they just use the info from the EMS waybill. Which is always honest.

What about this one :

1) Shipped on 2 Dec 2014 from China

2) Incomming International (sic) 23 Jan 2015 09:36 - JIMC

3) In transit 20 February 2015 20:10 - JIMC

4) ???

But I have parcels going back to July that I have not received.

OK, so I received this shipment on 27 Feb.

It was officially in JIMC for 5 weeks, and I strongly suspect that it was there for a few weeks before being scanned in.

So it took about 3 months. But other outstanding items are from July 2014.

I have had no response from this address.

SAPO JHB is run more progressively. That means that individual customers don't matter and only the good of all is considered. You will get your parcel one day comrade, but in the meantime many cadres are getting much needed employment. If you don't get that parcel at all, well you are so rich you can afford to order it again and maybe have it lost again.

Be happy you're not taxed even more in our workers' paradise.

It seems to be a standard placeholder. Every checkpoint has a "in transit" except for the addressed post office.

My current one also says "GERIn TransitTON (HUB)"

yeah normally means it's en route.

wow, how long have you tried if I may ask? Your packages have been outstanding for a while now.

edit : I saw your other response. I wonder if they got to the bottom of that pile, they probably have no clue where your parcel is. :(

Just emptied our PO Box.

Several overseas letters for MIL dating back to 23rd August 2014. Maybe they are getting to the bottom of the pile?

Just asked a shipper to file three lost in transit claims after non-arrivals within 45 days.

Our post office is the worst in the world, probably. I don't think anybody else outside of the likes of war torn Sudan or Ebola ridden Guinea could be worse.

I need documents from Belgium for my December holiday. Using couriers now at a cost of almost R600.

I finally received my documents yesterday. Only 5 months after it was posted.

I tried Customs, got through they said I must try again press 6 and then 4 from the menu. When I tried again couldn't get through. I swear they blocked my number :(

So for those in the know, is there another strike pending?
My local P.O reckons at the very least as of today the wekkas are likely to embark on a type of go-slow. (I wouldn't know the difference. They always seem to be on a "go-slow" to me).
Does anyone here have any further info to that effect?
