Yip, my parcel has been with Cape Mail since the 07.11.2014, I hope this gets sorted out soon, the frustration of getting a refund and then wait all over again....

Latest update from SAPO via facebook :

"Witspos sorting centre worked over the weekend of 8 and 9 November and on Saturday, 9 truckloads of mail left the mail centre for delivery.

Tshwane Mail is today manned at 60% of full capacity. The mail centre will work over weekends and later introduce a night shift when enough employees become available.

Sporadic incidents of intimidation at sorting centres continue to occur, but have been reduced following support from the SA Police Services. Eight people appeared in court in Bloemfontein on 8 November on charges of intimidation related to the postal strike and will appear in court again on 17 November.

Street delivery in most areas of Pretoria has resumed. In the greater Johannesburg area, delivery to postboxes has resumed with street delivery in limited areas only.

A significant backlog remains at the Johannesburg International Mail Centre for mail coming into South Africa from other countries. Mail is flowing to countries outside South Africa. International surface mail is not affected by the industrial action.

No post offices are closed as a result of intimidation. Repair work has started on the post offices that were damaged by striking workers and these offices are expected to start opening from Monday 10 November.

Mail processing has also resumed at the Polokwane and Emalahleni sorting centres, which were affected by industrial action. In other provinces the mail service is normal with no employees on strike.

Negotiations to address the concerns of the labour unions continue with the three unions recognised in the SA Post Office. They are CWU (Communication Workers Union), DEPACU (Democratic Postal Communication Union), and SAPWU (South African Postal Workers Union).

The three unions involved have responded to a proposal that was tabled by SAPO regarding the conversion of casuals and salary increments.

Meetings are still continuing to achieve consensus on a workable proposal, with specific consideration of the financial crisis that is been experienced and which is exacerbated by the inability to restore full operations."

May I ask how you found out?

I'm still getting the response of "Sorry it appears your parcels have not been scanned in yet".

Is that code for gone?

Personally I would be surprised if 60% of the parcels actually made it out without anything missing....
Theft was so bad when there was no strike, imagine what could happen now.....
All I know is, somewhere out there, some one is going to have a headphone amplifier and won't know how to use it.....

Just received a parcel with a JIMC stamp dated 28 August. They must have been busy processing this one when the wheels fell off.

Whatever happened to anything that arrived after that, nobody knows.

Finally some movement,

PARLY COMMITTEE CALLS FOR POST OFFICE WORKERS TO STOP STRIKE

Post office workers should return to work immediately following the voluntary resignation of the SA Post Office board, Parliament's portfolio committee on telecommunications and postal services said on Tuesday.

"The resignations came in the wake of the meeting between the committee, Sapo board members and executive management, as well as the Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services Mr Siyabonga Cwele, on 31 October 2014 to understand the current state of affairs at the entity," the committee said in a statement.

"The committee reiterated in this meeting that labour unions must work with Sapo management to find a lasting solution and thereby encourage workers to return to work immediately."

The call by the committee came as the strike by casual workers of the Sapo entered its fourth month.

Unions are demanding an eight percent increase and the permanent employment of all casual workers.

The strike has worsened the financial situation at the post office, which faces a R400 million shortfall as mail volumes continue to decline.

Earlier this month, MPs were told the cash-strapped, strike-hammered Sapo was on the brink of collapse.
