If they can get the cost down, and the shippers use them. Some providers ship only using post and the reason is they mostly ship to more developed nations and expect the postal service to freaking work.

Okay. Just received a cheque today that was posted from the US on October 10. Haven't received anything that was posted before or after this. But it's a sign of life at least, I guess.

Received 3 notices today that I must collect something before 15 October 2014 or it will be send back.

Nope, the post office was too busy to go and ask. Some registered documents, 3 different numbers.

For tracking international items I use this website - http://www.17track.net/en/result/post.shtml.
Alternatively you can use http://www.parceltrack.co.za. For this one you can also use the international tracking number. It will keep on showing NOT FOUND until the item has been scanned in the country and then it will give you all the details including the local tracking number...

Thanks for this link. I just checked, and it says that its been signed for by my local post office, which is a change from the INT MAIL HUB.

Still no movement on any of my stuff.
Hi guys, need help.
Father is working in Wales, He cant come to visit because his south african passport has expired.
He has not received his passport yet. Home affairs said it was posted beginning of Nov. But they cant track it.
They supplied us with this tracking number ( FO22823 ) but we cant track it.
Dont know if it has something to do with Sapo.
If anyone can help track it, it would be great.

The format should be RI 123 456 789 ZA. Your tracker doesn't look right. I don't know if Home Affairs has special numbers, but as far as I know the format is internationally standardised to prevent situations like this.
Thanks, they could not give us another tracking number, they said its out of there hands.
But for the good news tho, passport arrived yesterday.

Anybody know how things are standing with the backlog? According to the SAPO release they should have worked through it by now but neither the seller on BoB nor Takealot want to send items. Takealot hasn't even updated and is still showing SAPO as striking.

Same here, waiting for stuff from the UK that arrived in SA two weeks ago. Christmas prezzies (from Dad to Dad) 
have you tried contacting them and if so did you have any response?
