SA Post Office Strike

So do I need to phone JIMC or wait for my Post office?

You need to wait.
JIMC are useless imo.
I phoned them and they said I have to wait for the parcel to be scanned in in order to track it locally.
So if you have no local tracking info then it's pointless calling because it probably hasn't even been scanned into the country.

Ok Phoned them they gave me a local number to use for tracking.

Will see how fast this moves.
Maybe by the time I receive this I can add it to the Technology Museum

Unbelievable, I just got a notification in my post box of a parcel that was sent October 2014. Thats 4 months ago! I had left it for dead. Amazing.

I guess this is the last of the bunch, as I hear there is another strike planned at SAPO starting the 10th.

International mail has been slow, but everything is arriving in Cape Town. One package came without an invoice, but Cape Mail released it immediately after I sent a copy to them.

I thought I would give EMS a try again and it's a godamn nightmare. I have 2 packages that left for SA on 2 February so they are obviously in the country but it is impossible to get a local tracking number or to find out where my parcels are. I have tried phoning Cape Mail probably 50 times but nobody answers. JIMC do not answer their phones and [email protected] do not reply.

The site ems.sapo.co.za does not work, so I have no idea what is going on with my parcels! Does anyone know who I can phone/email to get some answers?

You will be lucky if you get a response back from JIMC's email after a week.

Try this link with your current tracking number : http://www.emssouthafrica.co.za/EmsWebSite/IPSTracking.aspx It gives more info than the other tracking sites does.

Mine seems to be going OK:

Return item from customs 2015/02/10 08:34:53 JIMC A AIR LETTERS/ TRANSFERS
Send item to customs 2015/02/09 13:43:26 JIMC E EMS
Receive item at office of exchange 2015/02/09 13:42:19 JIMC E EMS
In transit 2015/02/10 11:35 JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB)
From Customs 2015/02/10 08:34 JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB)
To Customs 2015/02/09 01:43 JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB)
Incomming International 2015/02/09 01:42 JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB)

Now last time it took a week to get to Cape Town. I'll see how long it takes now.

Thank. I just tried that link but it doesn't give any info.
"Parcel number EA********CN was not found in the database!
Please check your parcel number and re-enter if it is incorrect."

The tracking number only gives info on the international tracking page.

My USPS order left the US on 14 September. It has not been scanned in SA yet. Has anyone else been waiting for this length of time? Should I assume the parcel was pilfered? :(

I only started getting info on that site when my parcel was scanned in it when it got here, most likely it means that they havent scanned it in yet.

oi, that doesnt sound great. Though I only got my parcel from mid September last year in mid January this year, but I had tracking number and so forth from September already (albeit it didnt move for long periods of time)

I have just received a November 2014 order, but I am still waiting for July and October shipments.
