The shocking thing is, that according to a BBC report we have the 7th richest league in the world. Why then is our football pyramid so lop-sided? Surely the fault must sit with SAFA management and not their coffers.

...and some smart negotiator must get Parreira to drop his fee so we can afford to keep him on after the WC and let him start the u20 and u23 football leagues. The man is clearly worth every cent they're paying him.

"I really miss my family. I have been away for five months and leave Bafana and South Africa after the World Cup, but I am determined to leave them in a strong position of at least having qualified for the second round of the World Cup.
"I have been coaching at many World Cups (2010 will be his sixth) in 42 years in soccer. I think I have earned a rest,” stated Parreira.

Yip the WC will be great, but I want to see the improvement in overall football in SA. Look at what the USA did with MLS since WC94. I want to see the PSL and NFD made fully professional (a start is being made), but we need improvements in the total football pyramid. Also, we need to focus on proper youth structures, where is the u19 league that we were talking about years ago. Also, the 'rich' schools need to start offering soccer, sad as it is admit, these schools can better afford to offer the best faciliaties and coaching.
In 94 soccer was tiny in the USA, today MSL has 16 teams, and averages over 15 000 per game. SA already has a decent PSL, we can really build a great football culture post WC.
I don't think it's his fee....he wants to get back to his family:

I went to a rugby high school, even though ALL the feeder primary schools played football as soon as we got to Std 6 we had to make the switch to rugby. Hockey was the only alternative to rugby. We fought for years and years to get football included as at least an option but due to our history in SA, similar to the UK's, certain schools see rugby tradition as more prestigious. I matriculated in the year 2000...and rugby is still the main sport there even though at break time all the boys play football...
Had Bendtner been there it might've been a different story.

Possibly, he isn't a Rooney but he played a significant part in Denmark's qualifiers and Mokoena could handle him so a fair result in the end.Aaron Mokoena would have had his measure
I was there. To me what was a bit odd is that we have a Brazilian coach but our team plays like the Italians. I might be wrong but I think we play the same as the Italians. We defend and counter attack. Denmark was attacking more than Bafana and they had more possession, but they never really threatened that much...
