SABC through DVB-T2 on HD TV?

I think you will be able to pick up from Constantia. Just need a strong gain antenna. Never have picture problems from there.

Just wish they would sort out the EPG, especially SABC. Need the info for the CWC and to set recordings. Almost never shows any info. ETV channels mostly show info with the occasional channel not showing anything until you go to the channel then it shows up. Signal strength at 95-99 and quality at 70-100.
 
Touch wood, both multiplexes are working great on Grabouw recently.

Pity about the Kwese TV situation, was looking forward to some new channels on the third muliplex.

Gotv can only be accessed via a suitable STB with a SC and a registered service from MC.
Hence even though the TV detects the transmission, it is not accessible.

I have just got around to using the pvr function and I find on HD playback that there are a lot of stutters - anybody having the same issue

I went to the Sentech website in an attempt to find out. The site is high on politico-corporate double-speak and the like.
But... the supposed informational links labelled "Digital transmission", "Content services", "Digital audio broadcast" and "FM sites and frequencies" simply do not work. The useful and practical information that you and I would like to see is simply not there!

Hi another question for me. I'm trying to decide on which receiver to buy between Freevision/Vivid (comes with smartcard) and the Amonet Amo combo DVB T2&S2. I'm trying to avoid the Amo one because I suspect it needs an antenna to pick up etv and SABC channels and the rest of the channels will be picked up via satellite. (not sure though if anyone can clarify I'll be glad). I'd like to believe the Freevision one uses only satellite and it is my prefered but I do not know both receiver's limitations for eg can I add/edit transponders etc? what do you think?

The Vivid is a satellite-only receiver and can only be used with Sentech's SC and their satellite service. The other is a far more flexible decoder as it is also equipped with a T2 receiver for reception of DTT services. IT will NOT require a terrestrial antenna UNLESS you want to also receive T2 services, it will work as a Satellite only receiver as well.

But what do you want to receive with both? You should be asking if both are suitable to receive what you want to receive before buying either one.

Ok sorry, I want to receive all available channels via satellite including all SABC channels and all e-TV channels if it is possible. Reason I avoid antenna is that an indoor antenna isn't powerful enough where I stay.

So I was under the impression that the Amo require an antenna for SABC irrespective of whether a satellite dish is connected or not. The reason I thought so is that I once bought a Q-Box 5025 combo T2&S2 and it didn't pick any SABC and eTV via satellite unless you hook and aerial on as well. The Q-box did give many channels including ZBC and many more via satellite though.

I don't think that Etv and SABC have satellite free to air? I picked up hundreds of "church" begger channels when I scanned via my TV a while back, but I don't recall seeing our local channels...

E and SABC work great on T2...
 
Sentech's service definitely picks up SABC. Not sure if it will also access e-Tvs OVHD.
DTT carries both as far as I know, but you will need to confirm which e-TV channels are available on both decoder types.
Look at what free vision carries via satellite. Check their website and e-tvs website to see what you can find out.

I have the Amonet DVB-T2 box. The only etv channels on terrestrial at the moment are etvHD, eExtra, eMovies+ and eToonz. I believe the Freevision box picks up the same selection of etv channels.

Have you got a dish? I'd install a twin LNB with OpenView and Freevision decoders. That should give you the best of what's available for free.

TWIN LNB as a minimum. But you would be better off in the long run with a QUAD LNB if replacing an existing single LNB and no plans to go for DSTV services.
