I was happily using sabnzbd for a few months, when a week or so ago the download speeds started crawling (1KB/s-12KB/s).

I logged the problem with my ISP, they were not the problem. I switched back to NewsLeecher and get full speeds (90KB/s-112KB/s).

I uninstalled sabnzbd and downloaded the latest version...still the same slow speeds.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps the rate limiter is enabled in SABnzbd or you're using a different server:port combination than in NewsLeecher.

rate limiter is blank (even tried putting values in - no change)
same serverport combo than NewsLeecher

Number of concurrent connections the same?

SABnzbd keeps all meta-data about an active NZB in memory.
As the download progresses it needs to keep more in memory.
With 128M this will become a problem after some time.

Perhaps force close the SABnzbd service... open up again and try again....
PC reboot? Sounds like a dumb suggesstion, but this will also force SABnzbd to clear its memory cache...

Perhaps you have some kind of option enabled in the settings that is making it slow, such as the "Only Get Articles for Top of Queue" option in the Switches tab.

I've never had any issues like this with my SABnzbd+ running under Ubuntu. Then again my machine has 8GB of RAM :)

Well i'm running SAB with only 2 Gigs of RAM on Windows 7 Ultimate, and no problems here either.
Maybe it's your connection settings?

Here are my settings:

-10 connections to supernews Unlimited - EU Server (256-bit SSL @ port 563)
-10 connections to supernews Unlimited - US Server (256-bit SSL @ port 563)
-10 connections to Astraweb Block account - EU Server [Backup] (256-bit SSL @ port 563)
-10 connections to Astraweb Block account - US Server [Backup] (256-bit SSL @ port 563)
- 2 Connections to XSUsenet [Backup] (119)
-10 connections to IS (Backup) (119)

very stable..

When you uninstalled, did you make sure your settings were wiped out too? did you set up everything from scratch?

some posters seem to miss one point...

It was running perfectly fine for a few months and then suddenly slowed down, before I started fiddling with the settings.
