Hey guys I just received my Samsung 840 EVO 250gb and decided to put into an external enclosure for the time being, it's a VANTEC NEXTSTAR TX usb 3. The problem is that when I connect the external hardrive to the usb port, it is not recognized - nothing happens. I tested this on 3 laptops. Under device manager it is recognized, and under disk management I see a unallocated disk 0 and when I right click it , it requires me to initialize the disk to either GBT or MBR. Also samsung magician software recognizes the ssd too.

Initialize it to MBR.

Okay will do that but I want to use this SSD as a replacement for my HDD on my laptop soon. Will it be safe to clone my HDD onto the SSD with macrium reflect after I intialize it to MBR? or what will I have to do?

A new drive has no partition table or filesystem on it.
Like braai says, just go MBR and then format it with NTFS.

Okay just did it thanx! But will this affect me when I want to clone my HDD to the SSD?

No it won't.

After you have finished cloning the hard drive and have put the SSD in your laptop, make sure the SATA controller is set to AHCI and not IDE in the BIOS.

Also make sure that the operating system recognizes that it is now on a SSD and not a hard drive, otherwise it will defragment the SSD which would be devastating to the SSD's performance.

NEVER defragment a SSD!

Also make sure that the TRIM command is enabled and working wen the SSD is in the laptop.
