If they do that with phones here.... I would not be able to take said phones. I travel out of SANote 3 to be region locked?

I'd hazard a guess at 4-5 months looking at previous trends.

It's not region locked. It's just to stop importers. Once a valid SIM card has been inserted then the 'region locking' is removed.Note 3 to be region locked?

Exaggeration! more like most powerful smartphone on the Planet
Dafuq? I had just made up my mind to not wait for the LTE model and get this phone this weekend but I'll pass. Think I'll go for that LG with the uber battery or wait for its Nexus incarnation. Very shady of Samsung to only divulge this info when actually buying the damn phone.

Um, I obviously meant the KNOWN universe. We haven't discovered any sign of even microscopic life outside of earth, let alone advanced civilisations capable of making something like a Note 3. As far as we know this planet is the only one in the universe with life and therefore smartphones on it.

this guy would disagree...
Why wait? Get an LTE model now. Ours aren't region locked, it's only in Europe and the US. And as others have said, those can be bypassed. Overreact much?
Where can I get the LTE now locally?
Sorry that you felt I was overreacting, but if this locking is so easily bypassed then why do it in the first place? And why not inform customers until they actually saw the sticker on the packaging? I saw smoke, therefore thought fire.
Vodacom shops. See Ockie's deals thread, they only have the LTE version. Nashua seems to only have the non-LTE.
As for the locking, the cellphone networks probably bullied them into it. But still, it doesn't affect us.
