Samsung Galaxy S

Been having a hard time giving attention to anything other than my phone since getting it yesterday :D
The Google Skymap app is amazing, no real use to me but a great one to impress friends with if you have an Android phone.

One thing that bugs me about the apps menu is that I can't organise my apps into folders. Takes a bit of scrolling and searching to find a specific app when there's a lot of them installed. Besides that the Touchwiz interface actually seems pretty good.
I tried Launcherpro, but I prefer scrolling sideways through my apps and the fact that Touchwiz swipes through pages opposed to scrolling through a continuous menu.

I just found out today you CAN use folders to store your apps. If you long press on one of the Home screens you get the "Add to home screen" menu - Select "Folders" and then "New Folder". Now just add your apps to your home screen (long press the app icon) then move it into the folder!

Also - check out AndroidTown from the app store - another useless app - but it shows where other android users are around you - provided they have run the app - you can send them messages etc... Not many SA users on there yet!

Folders in the homescreen is nice, but I would really like to organise the actual applications menu into folders.
Not a major complaint, I put the apps I use often on the homescreen anyway.

I'm using the Galaxy live wallpaper, quite fitting. Also installed Prey in case my phone disappears. Don't know if it's the best but hey it's free.

Google Earth for Android is impossible to get from the store or Google mobile. But I found a link you can use to install on the phone:
http://sites.google.com/site/droidlife10/home/google_earth.apk
Just like the PC version.

I just have a home screen now dedicated to folders.
I have Games, Multimedia, Travel and other.
Plus if you find your phone sluggish check out this link, http://hemorrdroids.net/?p=637.
Its a very detailed guide on how to update your phone and root it and how to run the "lag fix". Just done it now and all i can say is WOW!
Well worth the 2 days it took me to get it all going :p

Well I took the plunge! Rooted and updated the firmware! Phone still working *phew *! Must say its seems a lot faster !

Just ordered one from handtec, been billed R4319.
Now for the wait and for customs...

They also gave me crap about my address not being valid, so I phoned them (Cost me around R30 for the call) and it'll be here on Friday I hope.

The phone is currently available in South Africa with CellC on Active Chat 100, it costs R280.00, there is no pay in amount required on the specified package.

Are you sure its not the Galaxy Spicia at CellC? Because I was in the CellC shop about 1 week ago and they didn't even have the Galaxy S on the system. Yet they also referred me to the Galaxy Spicia which is a completely different phone...

It is the Spicia and the Wave, I was there on Saturday.
The Galaxy S, isn't on their radar yet.

The laday checked on GSMarena to make sure - their service seems better than MTN's, I'm thinking of porting.

Like I tought, 280 for the Galaxy S would have been pretty cheap! More realistic for the Spicia, which isn't such a great phone. Wave is beautiful though

Will double check for you. Should have an answer by tomorrow.

Just quick question. Are there any custom roms or anything that allow you to change which homescreen is the default?
I used to run launcher pro but it slowed down my phone quite a bit.

Sorry guys, false alarm. I phoned and checked. They don't. If you approach any of your providers, ask for Galaxy S (Model: GT- I9000) and NOT Galaxy S, because they are thinking 'Spica'.
