Samsung Galaxy S

I've been reading on the Desire thread that most people can't get a full day of battery life and those that do turn of nearly all the cool features to make it last. How does the galaxy s do?

2 days, 3 days, 2 days, 3 days so far.

Well it seems every time I get a new phone the battery life is worse than the last, the Galaxy S being no exception. It sure is a lot better than what I hear about the Desire though.
The screen is the biggest battery killer, turning the brightness down should save you some power if you need it. Although I usually have it at halfway, or full when I'm using it outside.

If you charge every night then you shouldn't need to do anything special. I leave WiFi, 3G and my live wallpaper on. Sometimes listen to music for an hour or two when I'm bored at university, along with Ebuddy and MXit and a bit of web browsing. It gets through the day no problem, usually with anything from 30 to 60% power left by the time I go to bed and put it on charge.

If you make an effort to save battery power by turning WiFi off and the like, then I suppose you can manage two or 3 days of moderate usage.

I easily manage a day.
An hour of music. About an hour of games. Wifi always on. 3G always on. Live wallpaper running.
The battery is not as terrible as you would think.

That's damn cheap, buy it! And buy a few extras to sell. It cost me R5500 to import mine, and it's going to be at least R6500 when it's out here.

Why do SA cellphone shops only stock those stupid car mounts that go on the windscreen using a suction cup? I went all over a shopping centre looking for one that mounts on a vent or the dash. Guess I'll have to buy one online.

This one posted by Tim182 earlier looks cool, but how does it work? http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-Stand-Mount...20-/280545367570?pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL
I don't want to order online though because it will take ages to arrive. Does anyone know where I can get some kind of decent car mounting solution? Or do I really need to use presstick like my mother suggested? :p

Also, I posted this on XDA but maybe it's worth posting here too:
When in the sun or under bright light I can see a two vertical lines near the sides and a horizontal line on dark/black colours and when the screen is off. As if those pixels have a grey/brown tint to them. The line is mostly one pixel thick but in places it is two pixels.
They are almost impossible to see unless under sunlight where they are clearly visible where the screen is black.

Does anyone else see this or know anything about it? It doesn't seem like a major problem now, but it does worry me a bit.

Buy it, get a tax certificate and get the 17.5% UK VAT back at the airport. When you get here carry it through customs and you have the phone for about R3400

Doesn't generally take too long. 2 weeks max, plus you get some with free shipping, well worth the R70. Doubt you'll find anything locally for less than R400 lol

That's the motherboard underneath the screen or some kind of connector. All SGS have those lines, you can see theme specially well under neon light, nothing to worry about. If you look closely it is actually a square :-)

I thought it looked a bit circuit-like but assumed that was a coincidence! Yes it is a square. Thanks, good to know my phone is flawless after all :)

@Tim: Hmm, guess I'll buy one then. It does look a bit odd though, hard to imagine that stand being reliable.

Hm, I am not sure either if it is reliable. I haven't tested it myself, haven't had a need to order one. I read some positive comments on xda (also where I saw the link) but they could also be incorrect. I guess it all depends on your car and where you can put it. I personally also don't like windscreen holders, luckily I have some space on my dashboard which fits a stand

Guys I've got the phone for about three days now, still fiddling a bit, what I wanna ask is which live wallpaper do you guys suggest is the best
.

Live wallpaper = total waste of battery

Would be a problem if I actually needed that 2% of battery power per day. That's what the battery stats show for the live wallpaper right before I put it on charge at night.
This isn't like an HTC Desire where you need to turn all the cool stuff off to make it through the day on a single charge :p
