Samsung Galaxy S

There is a menu key :-/. it does not have a search key. But if you long press the menu key you get search.

That's odd... The Trusted Reviews, er, review claimed that the phone lacked a dedicated menu key?

Trusted Reviews said:
Having to use the applications shortcut to open the main menu, rather than a physical button, also feels a bit odd.

There are three buttons on the Galaxy S, back (explains itself), menu (brings up the options menu or if hold longer the search menu) and the middle button (serves as the home key or if held for longer as task manager in 2.2 and recent apps in 2.1)

Looks like the one to wait for if u waiting for an upgrade. & im not even a fan of Samsung phones!

Me neither! Lot of my friends complained about the older generation Samsungs for being crappy.

BUT....if Samsung only provides the hardware and Google the rest, it sounds like a match made in heaven. :)

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear. The dedicated search key is an absolute non-issue for me... Obviously, the "Menu", "Back" and "Home" keys would be what I need.

I Cannot get to the site.
But the phone has the same buttons as the Desire except without the search button.
The menu button is on the left.
Thanks for the response. Now to see which cellular provider can offer me this phone first...

I think MTN will have it first, some ppl say delivery will take place tomorrow. Vodacom might take a while still. It's a brilliant phone, functionality of an HTC and looks of an Apple, best of both worlds :-)

I'm REALLY looking forward to this phone. Been holding off my upgrade for 2 (going on 3) months now... Almost took the plunge for a Desire a month ago, but luckily I decided to stick it out.

I think most people had success with handtec.co.uk i think it was.
I used Expansys but they were way expensive.

I gave up on Samsung after owning a S8300, the only good thing on that phone was the screen(AMOLED)
I must admit, Samsung have turned the cellular world on their heads with the quality of thei AMOLED screens & now with super AMOLED. & with LED TV's, which I hope to get soon :)

got some bad news...i went to MTN head office , in constensia kloof (very close to my office)...they have a small stand where they sell phones and they where
very helpful the last time i went.
I asked about the Galaxy S. The guy called the warehouse and told me that the first shipment was suppose to be in the first week of December, however, Samsung
decide to change the price, so MTN are busy negotiating and no ETA at the moment.
I confirmed that this only applies to MTN and not to other networks.

sigh :( i wish we could just get the dam date on these... else i might aswell upgrade now.. no point waiting 5 months !!

every person says a different date ! i know the samsung reps have them already, but ya :/

and me :-).

I see handtec.co.uk is out of stock, any other good sites?

I imported mine from http://direkt.jacob-computer.de/ but its a German site. You might have to use google translate or email them (I'm sure someone there can speak English). Otherwise ebay and amazon are always a good option. Amazon.co.uk has a few sellers which ship the phone to SA, just check all the sellers.

:erm: Signature :erm:

Just a question, isnt the Samsung I9000 the real Galaxy S(Chinese market).. Look at these two compared, they seem to be the same..

One thing i do miss on both these phones is the flash leds for the camera! You always gona need a flashlight sometime.. ! :P

Here is another "Galaxy S" with most of the same specs, seems like Samsung could not decide what to call there phones.. lol (This one is for South Korea though!)
