Samsung Galaxy S

Just received mine from Supercall Cellular on MTN. Switched it on and doesnt have any branding that I can see.
Questions:
1. How strong is this phone, will it survive in my pocket like my Nokia E90 did LOL or do I need a pouch / case or something. Any recommendations?
2. Would you guys recommend using the screen protectors or are the screens quite scratch resistant?

Thanks, need to get a gap now to go play with my new toy :)

which contract did they give you, if you dont mind me asking.
and is it the 8gig or 16gig model?

Seems pretty strong, search Google for the drop and scratch test, there's a video where the screen withstands some serious pinishment.
It was recently announced that the screen uses Gorilla glass which is scratch resistant. Still gotta take precautions though.

Personally I keep my phone 'naked'. I never make it share a pocket with anything that could scratch it like coins though. The plastic on the back would probably be the first thing to get scratched.

I do the same. Keys in one pocket and phone in the other.

But we can keep hopes up that third-party back covers would appear on the market soon. I'd love a matte cover, preferably the same grayish-silver of the bezel surrounding the screen...

Im on Anytime 1200. Not sure if there is a pay in and it came with an 8gig card in the box so probably is the 8gig.
Still havent even looked at it, running around at work. Typical day where everything goes wrong when you got a new toy LOL

Any Vodacom TopUp contract I would assume. It's worked for me on both 135 and 315.
 
Who knows where to check data usage? My nokia had a counters section where you could check call counters for incoming and outgoing calls and Data.

Customs charges 14% VAT on 110% of the value, so instead of multiplying by 1.1 * 1.14, you should just multiply by 1.154. (=1 + 1.1*0.14). The 1.10 applies only to the VAT, not the whole price.
$28 * 7.37 * 1.154 = R238.14.

Nice :) Which branch? Head office says Northgate has. Northgate says they don't have because head office doesn't have :confused:
 
Xanthus, I ordered over the phone as I am in PE. Really nice phone, just have some small issues I need to get around. How do you swop tasks? I open the task manager and it lists the running apps / tasks but I cant select any one to quickly change to that app. I can only end it from there. Any suggestions? Another thing I have been doing constantly is pressing the back button while on a call. Still trying to figure out how to get back to end the call :)

Open up your notifications "drawer" at the top of the screen, the call should be listed there with a shortcut to end it, or you can just click on the call and go back to the standard "call" screen. I realized that soon after also touching the "Back" key during a call as well... :D
 
ok my mtnsp rep says they getting stock next week. waiting for package info.
