Samsung Galaxy S10

Where did you buy from?
2hnd.
Been looking for a phone for a while now to replace my Nokia. They have seriously let their customers down by not releasing new high spec phones in the last two years and not releasing Android 11 as they said they would .

Been deliberating on whether I should be buying an A72 5G, Nokia 8.35G or Oppo , or even a Xiaomi - max price R9k.

Want AndroidOne if possible and best possible cameras, and highest spec processor possible. Regular security and OS updates is a MUST.

Reason I am being tight, is that I prefer not to spend too much on phones as they inevitably get broken my children - and I never claim from insurance. So far this Nokia has been the bullet proof over the last three years, but it's starting to slow down.

With your S10e , which I just looked up , appears to be a 2019 model which costs about R13k ? Did you really pay that much for an old gen phone? Maybe it's worth it over an A72 and hence I am asking. For that price, I may have bought an oppo Reno or that Xiaomi 10T?

Don't know why I am immobilised by inaction in choosing a phone to replace my Nokia (which I am typing this message on).

Thx
You can get them 2hnd in great condition for around R4k.

They have everything I want in a flagship phone with all the useless sht left out. Awesome screen, camera, hardware, plenty storage space and ram, regular software updates.

The size of the 10e is near perfect, couldn't really get better.

Does anyone else get random slow charging, it'll refuse to fast charge. Then a bit later it'll fast charge fine on the same charger and cable, I've tried multiple known good cables and chargers but it appears to make no difference.

Seems fast charging issues is pretty common on the S10 seeing the number of hits on Google.

Has anyone here done battery replacement?
Looks like a real pain.
DIY?
Seems wefix will do a battery replacement for under R1000, original Samsung if I recall. At that price I wouldn't chance it DIY because a new back glass is a R1000 on its own and DIY you'll probably also struggle to get the phone fully waterproof again.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hmmm, didn't know this was a thing.

Got a link?

from my experience, it happens when the phone's old usually passing the 2.5-3 year mark with fast charging it will be like that for maybe 2-4 months and then go back to normal... it's probably some safety mechanism in place to prevent overheating etc... if you can do a battery replacement

I'm still undecided whether to go with wefix or Samsung directly

That shows screen replacements only? R3999 for a s10e.

I wanted to know about the battery replacement.

it seems they removed the pricing from the site

last time I checked 2 weeks ago it said R750 for regular s10 but now they only showing pricing for screen repairs on the site

Very bad.

I thought it was the network or some apps but it got so bad that when I take it off charge the morning by 2pm I need to look for the charger again.

Finally just moved my stuff over to my Huawei P40 Lite 5G that I have for 3 months already.

I will have to wipe the S10 and see what I can do to fix that drain because it's bad.
Do 2x completely flattening the battery till the phone switches off and then charge to full when the phone is off to reset the battery meter.

Troubleshooting my fast charging issue that was one solution and my phone stayed on 1% for 3 hours this morning. I don't know why resetting the battery capacity isn't a built-in routine but it's obviously not.

When I asked Wefix it was for a genuine Samsung battery but confirm that again because they change things all the time.

Battery life on my S10e is epic on the power saving mode, you just need to make sure the apps you want to background sync are not "optimised". The phone seems virtually as snappy with power saving mode enabled so not much of a loss. Android 11 UI 3 just has one power saving mode but it works well.

Bixby is handy, it's faster and more intuitive than the Google assistant from the use I've had thus far, reminds me of iOs Siri, nicely integrated with controlling the hardware. You can also do things with Bixby routines that previously something like Tasker would have been needed.

Still not winning with this drain.

Phone reset. No google account linked and on wifi.

20min later lost 2% battery already. Not sure if it's MTN because that is the only thing that changed. I ported from Cellc to MTN.

Are you running it in power saving mode?

I run mine in power saving mode whenever I'm at home, it definitely gets you significantly better battery life and I barely notice any performance hit.

You can use Bixby routines to automate that, and also switch off WiFi whenever you leave home/work.

Does anyone else use Bixby routines?

It's like have Tasker built-in to your phone but just much more user friendly, really makes the Samsung platform that much more attractive.

I noticed soon after getting my S10e that it would randomly unlock in my pocket, something I have not experienced previously. I thought I was going mad and not remembering to lock it, anyway it kept happening and I googled this issue and it seems it's widespread with the S10 because it doesn't have a dedicated proximity sensor and just uses the front camera for that which doesn't work well.

Has anyone else experienced this and have a workable fix?

^Bump, anyone also experience randomly unlocking on their S10?
