I am busy downloading villainROM now. Seems with Lite'ning the GPS is buggered. Anyone having the same GPS problems? It worked fine when it was stock? Any suggestions?

Yup, i have been on lite'ning for a while now, I thought for a sec my GPS was poked. Currently 6.1, GPS is much better on this ver, locks in about 30secs!!
 
Hey Mike, just a quick one. If you're flashing SP1 +2 for Touch x-treme, do you wipe dalvik cache before and after flashing? Must you rename it to update.zip or flash it as it's own file? Also should you recalibrate the battery after all these updates?

Just to be safe, I flashed Touch X-Treme first. Booted and setup everything. Then back to CWM, wipe Dalvik cache, install SP1, reboot. Then back to CWM, wipe Dalvik cache, install SP2, reboot - give it 15 minutes or so - and reboot again.
No need to rename to update.zip. Just select the sp1/2 zip and flash.
 
I flashed to VillianROM and my gps is working again. Although I miss Lite'nings overscroll and the blue themes...sigh.

Anyone running the SPEEDMod kernels?

Has anyone experienced the following with their data connection...

Connection times out after a while and only way to get back a connection is by switching Flight Mode on and off.

Would using a different modem help? and is there a way to just upgrade the modem only and not flash an entire rom?

This is currently happening with me and it is so frustrating. Tried different modems, didnt work, tried different rom, didnt work, flashed back to stock rom, still not working. Are you with Cell C/Virgin Mobile? Cause I think it is their problem?
 
My colleague's husband just broke the screen on his S2. Any ideas where to find a replacement?
 
Are there other roms that contain KiesAir or something like it? That seems like a really cool feature and would be a shame to lose it.
 
Hmmm I've tried to find a solution on google without any luck: The music app keeps flippen showing whenever I unlock my screen. Anyone know how to rectify? so annoying.

Both VillainRom and TouchXtreme have them included. I can't comment on the others though.
 
Thanks swift. Fiance got her sgs2 yesterday, I installed the usual apps, rooted with cf root and installed some root apps. Don't think ill be changing roms though, she's quite averse to tech change. I got in trouble for changing the theme on xbmc :p
 
I installed the leaked version of 2.3.4 on s2 and i notice that the battery hardly drains when its screen is off but as soon as the screen is on and im browsing or whatever then it drains extremely fast

I could have told you that :) It's a feature of most Android OS versions.

PS: I don't know if I mentioned that I bought a case a few weeks ago but I don't use it because it makes the phone bulkier. I've now ordered a genuine leather pouch instead. That will give me total protection. It has a nice ribbon, so getting the phone out of the pouch is as easy as tugging on the ribbon, which lets the phone out.

This is the exactly the kinda case i been wanting. But I see amazon is sold out :( Anyone know where a similar one might be found?

So I'm starting to settle into the smartphone + android experience. I was enjoying my phone on Touch X-treme rom, but only after I flashed CheckROM! Went back to touch x-treme because I couldn't hook my phone up to the PC. Anyway, somehow some of those cool settings of CheckROM spilled over when I flashed to Touch x-treme (yes I did clear everything).

But now it's a bit delayed with some widgets after a few days of normal use. The standard power-saving widget has become slow to react, it takes a good couple seconds before a click on 'brightness' does anything at all. Which is annoying. Sigh, gotta clear the rom and reflash I guess!

I just discovered Swype too :) Pretty cool!

You should always do a full wipe and clear Dalvik cache when going from one ROM to another else you will be looking for problems.

Nicer than swype is SlideIT. Then today a colleague showed me TouchPal which is free on the market for a limited time. So far I am preferring it to SlideIT. Check them all out :)
